1 (14-oz.) can sweetened
condensed milk
1 cup sugar
*2 cup light corn syrup
'n teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 medium apples
6 wooden skewers
Mix milk, sugar, corn
syrup and salt in heavy 2-
quart saucepan. Cook over
low heat, stirring constantly,
until sugar is dissolved. Cook
slowly, stirring constantly,
to 230 degrees on c a n d’y
thermometer or until mix
ture spins a 2-inch thread
when dropped from spoon.
(This may take as long as
30 or 40 minutes.* Remove
from heat; stir in vanilla
and cool 5 minutes. Insert
wooden skewers in apples at
stems and dip until well-cov
ered, tilting pan as needed.
Cool on lightly greased bak
ing sheet.

Here are some important
facts to remember:
. . .Freeze quickly at 0 de
grees or lower and store at
that temperature.
. . .Limit the amount of food
frozen at one time in a home
freezer to two pounds per cubic
foot of total storage space.

. Freeze only high-quality
fresh meat and fish. Freezing
does not improve quality
