Heaton of Clinton visited Pvt. Ronnie Norris at Ft. Jackson, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. David Owens spent the weekend with her sis ters, Mrs. Willie Mae Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Wyatt in Spartanburg. Mrs. Betty Floyd and children of Greenwood spent Saturday with her mother, Mrs. Annie Mae Caughman. Weekend guests of Mrs. Bes sie Carr in Aiken were Mr., and Mrs. Junior Garner of Chester and Mrs. Myrtle Whit- sel of Clinton. Cross Hill News BY MRS. SARAH SEGARS William Watson of Johnston died enroute toAugusta on April 27 and funeral services were held on April 29 at Harmony Methodist Cemetery. He was the brother of Mrs. J. B. Cole. Mrs. R. W. Griffin returned on Thursday from a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Bill Louett and family in Atlanta. Bethabara Baptist Church will observe the annual home coming on June 14. All interest ed persons are invited to attend. The church will be celebrating the 176th anniversary. Mrs. Dwight Smith died at a Greenwood nursing home on May 10. For the past 10 years she has made her home with two of her daughters, Mrs. Pierce Meller ofMountvilleand Mrs. Howard Penn of Green wood. Interment was at Lib erty Springs Cemetery on Mon day. Lt. William Martin Boyce who is with the Army has been on recent R&R in Hawaii and was joined there by his wife, Caro lina. During the time he talked twice with his parents Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Boyce and heartily endorsed our recent in volvement in Cambodia. Darrell P. Gregory graduat ed from OSC at Fort Belvair Va. last week. He is the great grandson of Mrs. G. E. Boaz- man and the nephew of Mrs. H. A. Boyce and Mrs. J. A. Whiteford of Cross Hill. Friends and relatives were interested in the dedication of the William Preston Turner building at Connie Maxwell Children’s Home in Greenwood recently. It was named in honor of the late Dr. W. P. Turner Sr., a native of Cross Hill, who was a Connie Maxwell trustee and the physician for the in stitution for manyyears. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Wirt Jennings and daughters, Martha and Dot- tie of Houston, Tex., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Braswell. Jack Caughman and son, Charles, and Private Charles Day of Augusta, Ga.; and Mrs. Annie Mae Caughman of this city visited Mrs. Caughman’s sis ter, Mrs. Lillie Rodelsterger, in Newberry, Sunday. Dick Caughman of the United States Navy is spending a 15- day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Caughman, having completed a tour of duty in Puerto Rico. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. McGinnis and Lucky and Mrs. Martha Dunaway were visitors in Union on Sunday. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs . C. W. Windsor were their daughter and her family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Duncan and child ren of Charleston. Visitors of Mrs. Mary Mar tin and Joyce Ottover the week end were Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Pearson and children, Jackie and Brad, of Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Beckham is vacationing at Santee Cooper a few days this week. Monday guest of Mr. and Mrs. David Owens was her sister, Mrs. W. H. McCarter ofGreer. Miss Juanita McGinnis and Sherry were in Columbia over the weekend. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Wooten had as their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Barney Blackwell and son of Char leston. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Emory of Greer visited Mrs. Ada Center and daughters, Sunday. Terry Hughes of Gray Court spent Friday night with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hughes. Michael Jennings’home is in Houston, Tex. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Braswell of this city.
