NO TGIF MEETING
The Youth Program for Lydia
(TGIF) will not meet this Friday
night, April 17.
Registrations for the 1970-71
year of kindergarten are now
being accepted for the Lydia
Presbyterian Church Kindergar
ten.
A registration fee of $10, which
will apply to the first month’s
tuition, should accompany the re
gistration form. Registration will
be open through May 22 to this
community for all four and five-
year-old children. Enrollment
will be limited to 20 children.
Next year’s Lydia Kinder
garten will begin on Sept. 8 and
continue through May 21. The kin-

On Sunday, April 19, from 3-4
p.m., there will be an open house
at the kindergarten for children
interested in attending next year
and for their parents.
During the two weeks following
the open house (April 20 - May
1) children who are interested in
enrolling are invited to visit the
kindergarten for one morning.
These visits will be scheduled
so that only one or two visitors
will attend on any one day.

Here are two oddities. There is no “z” in the
word “ounce”—yet the abbreviation of ounce is
“oz”. And there is no “1” or “b” in the word
“pound”—but the abbreviation for pound is “lb.”!
Here’s another amazing fact. If you spelled
out all the numbers, starting with one, two, three,
four, etc., and kept going all the way up, you would
NOT use the letter “a” until you reached one-
thousand !
Oddly enough, even though Smith, Jones, Wil
liams and Brown are four of the most numerous
sur-names in America, we have never had a presi
dent, vice-president or U. S. chief justice named
Smith, Jones, Williams or Brown.

grams, is scheduled to pen here
next Monday evening at 8 p.m. in
Belk Auditorium as the first pre
sentation of the Festival of Arts.

The film is 20 minutes of al
ternately hilarious and satirical

life is all about.
