Fortune-Telling Fades
In County Crystal Ball
BY JIMMY BOYLSTON
Legislative Correspondent
The age-old business of fortune telling is going out of busi
ness in Laurens county.
A bill recently passed by the House and Senate makes fortune
telling unlawful in Laurens county.
For tune telling is dying a slow, but apparently sure, death is
South Carolina. Numerous counties have passed laws making the
psychic practice unlawful.
Other counties, while not outlawing the practice are requiring
license fees designed to discourage fortunetelling. Anderson re
quires a $10,000 license fee before it will issue a license for
fortunetelling in the county.
