MOON ENGAGEMENT TOLD MR. & Mrs. Hubert Simpson of Friendship Drive announce the engagement of their daugh ter Ruth Loretta to Mr. Bob by Cheeks. He is the son of Mrs. Ida Mae Cheeks. The wedding will take place in mid July. GUEST MINISTER Rev. Peter Moon, Sr. brought the morning message at Bulah Baptist Church, Greenwood, S.C. 6n last Sunday. Accompaning him was Mrs. Aurelia D. Moon, Sherita, Louancie, Laurethia and Rev. & Mrs. J. W. Watts. SHOWER Mrs. Nannie Mae Green was hostess to a double pink and blue shower in honor of her daugh ter and niece Mrs. Mary Lois Hall and Mrs. Susie Richey. This enjoyable gathering was on Sat urday night at her home on Clo ver St. The home was decorated for the occasion where appropriate games were enjoyed and refresh ments were served. About twenty five' guests came. RELIGIOUS PROGRAM The All-Star Religious Pro gram was held at Joanna Club house on Sunday evening at 6:00. Rev. J. W. Watts, the presi dent presided during the singing of seven member groups. The Toland Brothers were sponsors for the session. Mrs. Mattie Ford serves as secretary. Love Baptist Church will spon sor the next session on the 1st Sunday in March. Willie B. Anderson passed re cently at his home in Detroit, Michigan. A native of Cross Hill, he was the uncle of Mrs. Lillie Bluford who resides on W. Centennial St. Among other survivors is a sister Mrs. Ada Richey of Cross Hill. The fam ily is extended our sympathy. SPONSORS PROGRAM Rev. W. D. Coker was the guest speaker at Cowell Baptist Church Joanna on Sunday evening at 5:00 Rev. P. F. Crump, the host pastor, introduced the speaker after an inspiring devotion ser vice. Rendering music was He bron Senior Choir and Gospel Chorus, Vaughnville, New Grove, and Bethlehem Grove Gospel Choruses , and the Junior Choir of the host church. Rev. J.W. Watts pastor of Love Baptist Church Whitmore,S.C. witnessed the service. Mr. 4 Mrs. James Sturkey sponsored the program. SP4 George Watts is on leave with his parents Mr. & Mrs. Jesse F. Watts on Horne St. He recently returned from Viet nam and is to report to Fort Hood, Texas upon the termina tion of his furlough. C. spent the past week end with her mother Mrs. Bannah Adams and other relatives. Miss Sandra Watson will ob serve a birthday on tomorrow, February 6. Mr. & Mrs. Paul Cunningham of Spartanburg, S.C. were the Sun day guests at Mr. & Mrs. Joe Adams. William Sturkey of Cleveland Ohio and other relatives from Atlanta Ga. were weekend guests in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Jame' Sturkey on S. Bell St. SSGE6 Rufus Cannon is visit ing David Cannon and Miss Ruth Cannon and other relatives in the city. He recently returned from serving in Vietnam and at the end of his leave will re port to Fort Meade, Md. Mr. & Mrs. James Harley and daughter Patricia recently vis ited his sister and brother in law Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Keel in Lake City, S. C. Miss Debra Roberson of Jo anna spent the weekend with Miss Twand Sander. Mrs. Emma Meadors of Co lumbia recently visited her sis ter Mrs. Esteelle Williams on Carver St. in Joanna. She came especially to attend the funeral of her brother in law, the late Archie Smith who was funeralized at Mount Moriah Baptist Church on Monday.
