Canada Dry Buys Franchise The Canada Dry BottilngCom- pany of Columbia has recently acquired the franchise for the Chilly Willee Slush Program. Their franchise area includes the territories occupied by their Rock Hill and Clinton plants. In accepting the franchise, Gerald W. Smith, president, Canaday Dry Bottling Company stated, ‘With the addition of the Chilly Willee Slush Program to our company we have made a- vailable to the stores in this area a very high profit item with a product that has recognized customer appeal. Two years of research pent into the syrup used in this machine and many more in the engineering of the machine itself. We have employed a hill time sales representative, Mr. Coy Jones, and we are plac ing machines as fast as we re ceive them.* A number of soft drink experts predict that during the 1970’s the Slush drinks will comprise 15% of the total soft drinks sold. YMCA Winter Program Slated The Clinton YMCA Winter Pro gram is under way and will be in full swing within the next two weeks. The programs include basketball for Adult Men, boys 8, 9, and 10 years old, boys 11 and 12 years old, girls 9, 10, & 11 years old; Club Programs for girls Tri-Gra-Y, Junior Tri- Hi-Y, and Sr. Tri-Hi-Y; Clubs for boys include Gra-Y, Junior Hl-Y, and Sr. Hi-Y; Indian Guides for fathers and sons; A- dult classes in beginners and ad vanced Bridge for men and women; knitting classes for wo men; and Trim-Nasties for wo men. BASKETBALL Basketball Leagues are now in the process of being organized. The ‘Y’ Guys League, boys 8, 9, and 10, will meet at the Nat ional Guard Armory each Mon day afternoon at 3:15. The Boys Gra-Y League will meet at the Armory each Tuesday at 3:15 and the Girls Tri-Gra-Y League will meet each Wednesday after noon at the Armory at 3:15. All boys and girls who wish to join these Leagues should come to the Armory in order to be placed on a team. You must be a member of the YMCA in order to play. Organization of the Men’s Lea gue has been completed with four teams participating. A'l men who wish to participate should see the managers about being placed on a roster. The participating teams are Joanna, Jaycees, Torrington, and Kiwanis Club. Scheduled games will get under way Dec. 4, 1969. JR. AND SR. HI-Y & TRI-HI-Y CLUBS The Girls Junior and Senior Tri-Hi-Y Clubs have been or ganized and are having schedul ed meetings at the YMCA. The Jr. Tri-Hi-Y Girls meet each first and third Monday of the month. The Sr. Tri-Hi-Y meets the first Wednesday of each month. The Boys Jr.-Hi-YClubmeets the second and third Thursdays of each month at the YMCA. The Boys Sr-Hi-Y Club is in the pro cess of being organized. Y INDIAN GUIDES All fathers who are interested in participation in a Y-Indian Guides Club for fathers and sons will meet at the YMCA Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. Details of the program will be explained and those who wish to participate may ir,i n a tribe. This will be the only meeting that will not involve the boys. The program is for fathers and sons age five, thmigh nine years old. KNITTING CLASSES Instruction in knitting is now under way at the YMCA. Some 20 ladies are presently registered for the class. Anyone who wished to join the - class may register at the regular meeting time Tues day at 7 p.m. The class is being instructed by Mrs. Alvin Hueble and meets at the YMCA Building. TRIM-NASTICSA Ladies classes in Trim- Nasties are scheduled to get under way atthe Judd Gymnasium within the next two weeks. All ladies who wish to participate are asked to come by the YMCA office and register. This year a small fee of $3 for members and $6 for non members will be charged to help defray the expense of the course. The class will run throughout the winter season. Two classes are planned, one • each Monday and Thursday morning at 10 a.m., and one each Monday and Thurs day afternoons at 5 p.m. If additional information is needed concerning any of the pro grams please call the YMCA of fice at 833-1555. “This project is still under wraps, huh?"
