Is there some good treatment or cure you can recommend? ATLANTA. DEAR ATLANTA: The only home treatment that I’ll recom mend is that you be extra-scrupu lous about washing and cleaning your skin, cut out rich desserts and sweets from your diet, and concentrate instead on good vege tables and fruits. And don’t be doing any experimenting on that precious skin! Best idea of all is to visit a dermatologist (skin doctor) at once. Wonderful things are being done every day for trou bled skin such as yours. DEAR SALLY: My husband and I are very happy over the forth coming adoption of a darling baby boy. In fact, my husband is so carried away over it that he wants to name the baby for him and his father . . .for example, “John Smith, IH.* However, my hus band’s mother has pronounced this “outlandish," claiming that it is not right or proper to name a child that is not of your own flesh and blood for his adopted father and grandfather. How a- bout this? IN DOUBT. DEAR IN DOUBT: Your mo ther-in-law is way off base. There is nothing in the world wrong with naming an adopted son for his father. DEAR SALLY: I’m a girl of 16 who has been a chronic finger nail chewer for as long as I can remember. I just cannot seem to kick the habit, and you can imag ine what a mess my nails are from the constant nibbling. I Cross Hill News BY MRS. SARAH SEGARS Mrs. F. S. Cole has a new granddaughter, Diane Marie, born to Mr. and Mrs. FrankCole of Kansas City, Mo., on Oct. 29. Miss Clara Belle Hill, the bride elect of Max Hitt, was given a shower in the Social Hall of the First Baptist Church on Oct. 24. Hostesses were Mrs. C. V. Hipp, Mrs. Michael Wil liams, Mrs. Ollie Irvin, Mrs. Colie Dilleshaw. Among college students at home for the weekend were Jim my Naffy of Clemson and Ernie Segars of Wofford. Leon Moore has returned to his home after being on Aquilla Is land with construction workers for several weeks. Mrs. Brenda B. Patterson is a patient in Self Memorial Hos pital. G. E. Boazman remains ill at his home. Several Cross Hill families have made recent trips to the mountains of South and North Carolina. Mrs. Hayne Workman Jr. visit ed Mr. and Mrs. Workman Sr., of Kinards on Sunday afternoon. Book Campaign Is Underway Donations to the Westminster Fellowship’s book campaign can be made at six local churches. Books may be placed in special collection boxes at First Presby terian Church, First Baptist Church, Broad Street Methodist Church, All-Saints Epicopal Church, St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Asoociate Re formed Presbyterian Church. All types of books, both paper backs and cloth bound, are being collected to provide a library of reading materials for the New Careers Center in Laurens. The New Careers Center is designed to assist teenage high school drop-outs. Reading comprehension is from fourth grade level up to adult level A collection box also is lo cated in the Presbyterian College Library. Nail-biting stems from inner nervousness and tension, and if you really want to overcome the habit you must go to work on whatever is causing this ner vousness. Good luck! DEAR SALLY: A girl friend of mine recently broke her engage ment when she found out that her fiance was running around with other women. However, in stead of returning the ring to him, she has kept it and is now wearing it on her right hand. Of course, this is none of my busi ness, but when I questioned her about it rhe said the ring is hers to keep and that it represents “compensation for all the time she wasted on the bum.” What do you think about this?
