Each day shooting starts at 12:00 noon and ends at sunset. The daily bag limit is 18 birds, with a possession limit of 36 af ter the first day. For those hunters not having a favorite hunting spot, the Wild life Resources Department is again providing a limited number of public dove fields. Many of them are on privately owned lands and hunters are requested to use them with consideration. Abuse may mean that they will not be available next year. The fields are open on a first- come basis. No restriction is placed on the number of hunt ers, no permits are required. They are open only one day of each week. Conservation Officers will be present to assist hunt ers and to gather statistics. All State and Federal laws apply. No other species may be shot or molested. Markers along roads will direct hunters to the field. In Laurens County, the fields are: farm of Capers W. Knight south of Princeton on U.S. 25 (Saturdays); Milton R. Howard, 10 miles west of Laurens on U. S, 76 near Hickory Tavern (Sat urdays); Enoree Game Man agement Area three miles north of Tip Top on Ridge Road (Wed nesdays). These are the popular Game Manage ment Area seasons for the Pied mont South Carolina offers the long est deer season of any state in the country. Most can offer only a month at most. This greatly reduces the amount of recrea tional opportunity that a deer herd can provide. Hunting success should be an improvement over last year’s experience. Moisture conditions are much better and dogs should find trailing to their liking. Hunters are reminded by the Wildlife Resources Department to use good judgment and make hunting the truly safe sport that it is. Clinton Team Loses In World Softball Tourney Clinton’s state championship softball team was eliminated in the WorldSeriesofSoftball Tour nament in Gastonia, N.C., recent ly. The Clinton team lost to At lanta, Ga., 13-5 on the first day of the tournament and then was eliminated by Gruman of Long Island, N.Y., 13-4 on the second day. The tournament was won by the 'Lycoma team state champ ionship industrial. The tournament attracted state championship industrial teams from 40 states. Clinton Coach Buddy Sanders commented, “It was quite an ex perience for us although we were eliminated. We appreciate the lo cal support we have received and particularly appreciate the dona tions made by local merchants so that we could attend the tournament and representSouth Carolina industrial softball teams." After a very close rice the Luckies were the champions of the Twilight Bowling League this summer finishing only one half game in front of the Batmen. It was a close race throughout the season with seldom more than 2- 1/2 games seperatingthe leaders. The Luckies were made up of Ted Wilson, Bill HoweU, Clark Meadors, Bennie Sinclair, William Bowlingand Horace Rob inson team captain. The textile Bowling league met Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m. to organize and bowled im mediately after. The Industrial League began the winter season Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. There are still openings for teams in either league.
