Most of us are somewhere ‘on the way," and some not very far. There is nothing mere pathe tic than to see a grown man or woman who acts like a small child emotionally. Such will fly into a tantrum, burst into a rage over little nothings, sulk and pout for two or three days at a time, burst out into a string of profanity, and do a number of other things which are beneath the training and dignity of an emotionally mature adult. These things are done for the same reason that a child would do them, either to secure attention, or else to try to attain some desire. An even sadder fact about these emotionally immature people is that they are the last to recog nize their condition. They will admit to no need of help. They are quite stubborn about that. Their defense is to find fault with other people. There is another type of emo tional immaturity, the one who nurses an inferiority complex and has a kind of sad satisfaction in being personally miserable. They will never admit to feeling good. They make no effort to remove or go around the cause of their misery. These people can be said to enjoy “poor health." In some respects they are like those re ligious fanatics who consider it virtuous to inflict discomfort and suffering on themselves. We must remember that our emotions are suspended between our mental and spiritual life. They are the two pillars upon which our emotional life rests. If our emotional life is to be in balance, the mental and spiri tual pillars must be of the same height. The two side rails of a ladder must be the same height if one can climb successfully. If one rail is shorter than the other, climbing will be very un successful; the ladder will prob ably fall. People spiritually deficient are usually emotionally Immature. Like a man trying to climb a ladder with one of the rails longer than the other, they haven’t had much success climbing to maturity. By enduring the temptations, overcoming the obstacles, bear ing cheerfully the burdens of life with the strength which Al mighty God gives those who seek Him, men and women increase in spiritual stature. And as they grow equally in mind, they be come emotionally stable. The fanatic is the one who has allowed either his mental or his spiritual life to outrun the other, throwing him out of emotional balance. Look at yourself honestly. Per haps your ladder needs straight ening. Hog Prices - From the looks of current figures, hog prices should remain good through the balance of the year and into the spring of 1970. Corn Storage - Farmers in tending to store high-moisture corn should reduce the moisture content to 12 percent to insure long time safe storage. Moisture promotes mold growth and in fluences the activity of storage insects. If the moisture content is below 12 percent most insects become inactive. Cool Baked Goods - Always cool baked goods on open rack or some type of elevation so it can circulate under the pro duct. This will prevent moisture forming and food will not be sog gy on bottom. Canning Fruits and Vegetables - In canning fruits and vegetables, liquid sometimes seeps from the jar during processing.
