Mr. Smith Ramsey and Mr. Henry Bumgardoer of San Augus tine, Texas are visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Simmons. Mrs. Maude Bruson Is spending a few days in Greenwood with Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Blake. Mrs. Jim Mitchell and Kathy of Greenville visited Mr. and Mrs. Roy Crisp Sunday afternoon. Miss Carolyn Burns is visit ing in Panama City, Fla. Mr. J. W. Miller spent Sunday in Fountain Inn with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McCarter. Mr. and Mrs. Max Ferguson and daughter ofFair Forest spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Winebrinner. Mrs. J. M. Kinard ofElrhart is spending a few days with her father G. C. Watts who is a pa tient at the Bailey Memorial Hos pital. Mr. and Mrs. John Simmons, Cody, Mart and Mary Olga at tended the Vasson - Jones wed ding in Lancaster Saturday night Mart was one of the grooms men. Mrs. S. B. Goodman Jr. and San dra Brooks of Washington, D. C. are visiting Mr. S. B. Goodman and Mr. and Mrs. Mellette Wham. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Goodman of Greensboro, N. C. were visit ors in town Sunday afternoon. Miss DuBose of Clinton spent Tuesday night with Miss Mary Wham. Mrs. Smith Chance and child ren of New York has returned home after visiting Mrs. B. P. Watts. Mrs. B. P. Watts attended the Toastmasters Convention in Co lumbia last week. Cross Hill News BY MRS. SARAH B. SEGARS Mrs. J. H. Atchison continues ill in Self Memorial Hospital. Mr. J. T. Hollingsworth enter tained his family and friends at his annual barbecue on the lake last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Hayne Workman Jr. re turned from Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday and was met in Atlanta by Mrs. R. B. Segars, Lindy and Miss Will Jones. Mrs. Cal Moore, Miss Connie Moore, and Miss Frances Hill spent last week with relatives in Edgefield. Leon Moore is on a con struction job on Aguila Island near Puerto Rica. Mrs. R. W. Griffin has re turned 'from a visit to Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Lovett and family in Atlanta. LL and Mrs. William Martin Boyce are spending sometime here before Lt. Boyce leaves for Vietnam. Billy Brown has returned home from Self Memorial HospitaL Baptismal services were held at the First Baptist Church and Bethabara BaptistChurch on Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Segars, Ernie and Lindy, and Mrs. E. P. Boazman were recent busi ness visitors in Augusta. Dr. Sidney Crouch, retired Presbyterian minister of Clem- soQ who passed away recently married the former Katy Austin of Cross Hill. She has a num ber of relatives here. Operation Mainstream, a De partment of Labor manpow er program, provides work ex perience and training for chroni cally unemployed older workers. These people plant trees, beau tify roads, Improve drainage, protect wildlife, and rehabilitate bousing. These projects help im prove small and rural low- income communities while pro viding jobs for their inhabitants.
