The successful bidder, other than the Plaintiff herein, immediately upon the conclusion of the bidding, shall deposit with the Clerk of Court the sum of five per centum (5%) of the amount of the bid as a guarantee of his good faith in the bidding. Dated this 15th day of July, 1969 Jyl7-3c-Jy31 LEGAL NOTICE OF HEARING The South Carolina Public Ser vice Commission has received a petition from Southern Bell Tele phone and Telegraph Company requesting approval of proposed changes in its Tariffs covering charges for Intrastate Toll Tele phone Service. The petition states that the ef fect of the proposed schedule of toll rates is to change the pro cedure for rounding all the charge for additional minutes of toll time used after the initial mini mum period. If the charge for an additional minute after the initial period constitutes a frac tion of a nickel, such charge un der the present tariff is rounded to the next lowest nickel. The proposed change would be to round off charges for additional minutes to the next lowest penny. This procedure would result in the charge for additional minutes being more precisely stated as a correct percentage of the initial period charge. The petition states that, his torically, the procedure of round ing to the next lowest nickel made for more convenient and practicable bookkeeping and bill ing, however, with computeriza tion it is now no more difficult to round the toll charge to the next lowest penny than it is to round to the next lowest nickel. The petition further states that the proposed schedule will pro duce estimated additional gross annual revenues of $657,000 for the Company, which amount after applicable income taxes will net the Company approximately $288,000. This amount will, to a small degree, help to offset the pressures of increased expenses, taxes, and heavy construction ex penditures at prevailing high cost levels. A public hearing in the above entitled matter will be held in the Commission’s office, 704 Owen Building, 1321 Lady Street, Columbia, South Carolina, per sons will be given an opportuni ty to be heard. The late Dr. Blanton, long time associate of Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, writes out of a long and distinguished practice as a psychiatrist. i The Bible is the best known book on the practice of true love. The late Dr. Glenn Clark, found er of the Camps Farthest Out movement, tells of his personal experience in reading the entire Bitile through. As he read the first five books of the Old Testament, he set down a list of upwards of 600 rules and regulations for righteous and healthy living. He read on until he came to the Psalms where he found in the 15th Psalm the list of requirements reduced to less than 20. He read on into the Prophets, where he f( iund in M icah 6:8 that the numlier had tieen reduced to three: “And what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” He then read on into the New Testament where he found that the years had reduced the requirements to one - love - love to God and to our fellow- man. Dr. Blanton explains and ex pands the true meaning of love and what it means to you and to me. If man does not learn to love God, he perishes. If man does not learn to love his fellowman, he perishes. Without love society perishes, government perishes, marriage perishes, and the in dividual perishes. His chapter on marriage is magnificent. It shows why so many marriages fail -- because of selfishness and lack of true love. Love must grow until it be comes an on-going process of sacrifice, sharing of sorrows and joys, moving forward jointly in the new and vital experience in partnership with God. I urge every reader of this column to secure a copy of this book. It will tie the tiest 75 cents you ever spent.
