CLYDE TRAMMELL, Correspondent and Representative Phone 833-2006 Mr. and Mrs. Billy Nelson and lamily spent a recent week in Pennsecola, Fla., with her sis ter and brother-in-lf w, Sgt. and Mrs. James Fuller. Misses Polly and Angela Wil liams and Mary Helen Hiller of Newberry spent the first few days of last week with the Misses Williams grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Williams spent Thursday and Friday in the South Caro lina and North Carolina moun tains. On Sunday, Mrs. G. C. Parrish Jr. of Aiken and Mrs. Jerald Cooper and son, Doug of North Augusta joined them here and accompanied them to the Wil liams family get-together at Rainbow Lake Park in Spartan burg. Charles Williams went with them also. Mrs. Douglas Callahan of Pied mont was the weekend guest of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Lark. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton White and Misses Kathy Webb and Shei la McGee enjoyed the weekend camping at Rock Valley, N.C., on Sunday they attended service and had dinner at Ridgecrest, N.C. the Baptist camp. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Moore visited his mother, Mrs. T. E. Moore in Laurens onSunday.Mr. and Mrs. Moore were recent visitors of her sister and broth er-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Allen near Chesnee, goingforthe Dixon reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Riley and sons are vacationing this week at Daytona Beach, Fla., and other points of interest in Florida. Mrs. Donald Lawton and child ren of Orangeburg were weekend guests of her mother, Mrs. J. B. Patterson and Mr. Patterson. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Lanford and Johnny were inAndersonSat- urday evening for the wedding of Lt. and Mrs. Richard Wells. Bike Scrfety Stressed By 4-H BY THAD REEVES Assistant County Agent A meeting on Bicycle Safety was held Monday night July 14 at the Greenpond United Meth odist Church. It was sponsored jointly by theGreenpond4-HClub and the Methodist Youth Fellow ship. The meeting was well at tended by the children and their parents from over the com munity. Two films on bicycle safety were shown and a talk was given by Mr. Marion Ma hon, a Highway Patrolman from the Greenpond Community. Mrs. Milton Woods was the organizer for the meeting. Refreshments were served afterwards. Everyone who attended went away with a better understanding of how to drive a bicycle more safely and also how to keep it in safe operating condition. The parents learned how to drive more defensively when they see bicycle riders. This is a good project and each community should think about having a bicy cle safety program. Dennis Lanford returned to his home Friday after a six weeks illness in the Veterans Hospital in Columbia. Mr. Lanford who was injured in an accident near his home on the old Laurens High way will be confined to bed for another two months. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fitz gerald and daughter Paige of Co lumbia, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pat terson of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Woodfin and daugh ter Cindy of Jacksonville, N.C. were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Pace. Mr. and Mrs. Pace have moved into their new home on the Whitmire Highway. Mr. and Mrs. Odie Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Nelson spent Sunday at Lake Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Carroll and family spent a recent week’s vacation in Orlando, Fla. and other points of interest in that vicinity. Miss Mary Johnson has re turned home after a visit with her brother, Mr.RichardJohnsonand Mrs. Johnson and with her sis ter, Mrs. J. E. Cobb and Mr. Cobb in Charlotte, N.C. She also visited relatives in Winston Salem, N.C. while away. Misses Kathy McElhannon, Lisa Johnson, Ann and Marki Darby are attending the Junior- Intermediate Camp at the Lau rens Baptist Assembly on Lake Greenwood this week. Mi. and Mrs. David Storay and Miss Pam Storay of Green ville visited Mrs. Storay’s mo ther, Mrs. Mary Fallaw and brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Fallaw on Fri day. Mr. and Mrs. Storay and Mr. and Mrs. Fallaw then went on to Myrtle Beach through Sat urday. Kim, Phil and Dave Storay re turned home with their parents after visiting their grandmother and aunt and uncle. Pam re mained with them for a weeks visit. Mrs. W. H. Franklin Sr. of Newberry has been visiting here with her sister, Mrs. Fred Bo- die this week. Visiting Mrs. Bo- die on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Berry of Fork Shoals. Mr. Melvin Motte of Green ville visited his brother and sis ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Motte. Mrs. Rabon (Martha) Wyatt was transferred from Bailey Memor ial Hospital last week to the Gen eral Hospital in Greenville where she underwent surgery on Friday. Visiting her have been Mr. Wyatt, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Wyatt, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Wyatt, Mrs. Den- ford Wyatt, Mrs. Paul Patter son, Mrs. Everett Summers and Miss Judy Patterson.
