HOGAN Correspondent-Representative Dial 697-6949 Mr. and Mrs. Roland Godfrey spent the July 4th week with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wright in Waycross, Ga. The Wrights joined them for a few days visiting points of in terest in Florida. On the 4th, Mr. Godfrey, Mr. Wright and son, Bobby attended the races in Day tona. Mrs. Minnie Burnett joined Mrs. Rosie Spires, Mrs. Willie Mae Spires and Chip to visit Rev. and Mrs. Mickey Spires in At lanta, Ga., several days recently. They attended the Light House Tabernacle revival while there. Kevin and Shane Burnett join ed Mr. and Mrs. William Kit chen, Joey and Tony of Newberry on July 2nd for a trip to Atlan ta, Ga. to spend the day at Six Flags. Mrs. Earl Connell and Scott will return this week after spend ing three weeks with Mr. Con nell in Panama City, Fla. Mrs. Lillian Estes spent the recent vacation week with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Estes in Jackson ville, Ela. Mr. and Mrs. Efred Hays and family spent their vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baxley in Tampa. Fla. Mrs. T. C. Holcombe and granddaughter, Donna Holcombe, flew to Dallas, Texas on June 22 where they spent several days with her sister, and brother-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Sher man. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Hol combe, Mike and Stevie joined them during the weekofthe fourtli. They then visited S/Sgt. and Mrs. Max Holcombe and Helen at Co lorado Springs. Another place they drove through was New Mexico, on their return trip. Mrs. Ola Murrah and Bobbie Jean spent Sunday, July 6, with Rev. and Mrs. Thomas Brown at Mauldin Church of God camp grounds, where they had spent the week. A large crowd was there as the Children’s Home on the camp ground was dedicated. Also there for the dedication ser vice of the new building were Sen. and Mrs. Strom Thurmond. Before returning home the Browns and Murrahs enjoyed a picnic in the mountains beyond Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Fuller and children of Clinton spent the week of the 4th in Collinsville, Conn., w-ith Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Bilodeau and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Petit. REEDER VISITS RELATIVES L. B. Reeder of San Diego, Calif., has returned after vaca tioning for two weeks with his sisters, Mrs. B. T. Mason ofjo- anna, Mrs. Albert Miller inNew- berry, and with a brother, Frank Reeder in Joanna. As part of the highlights of his trip they toured the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. Miss Kaye Thomas of Atlanta, Ga., returned on Sunday after spending the week with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Mason and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Sease spent the week of the 4th with their daughter and son-in-Lw, Lt. and Mrs. Bruce D. Mills in Spring- field, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Tucker and daughter spent a few davs vacationing at Myrtle Beach. A/lc and Mrs. Bruce Chalk of Shaw AFB joined them there. Mr. and Mrs. Deri Jacks and family enjoyed a few days at Myr tle Beach. Mrs. Eckard Boyce, Mrs. Liz zie Yates, and Bobby joe Brunson of Sumter spent a few days here with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Boyce and other friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Dickie Trotter and children and Misses Jim and Nora Hawkins spent their vaca tion at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Chalk tour ed the mountains as far as Gat- linburg during the weekofttie4th. Their guests this weekend were A/lc and Mrs. Bruce Chalk. On Saturday afternoon, Mr.andMrs. Roy Sanders of Clinton visited them. On D.C. Scholarship Trip Winners of the Fourth District Scholarship Trip, Tour II, are pictured with Rep. James R. The student winners were selected on the basis of outstanding scholarship, leadership and participation in school activities. During a 4- day tour ofWashingto n, the studenst visited the White House and Supreme Court; attended ses sions of lx>th Houses of Congress; met officers and members of House and Senate; attended a Peace Corps briefing, among other activities. HOME ON LEAVE S/Sgt. Joe Chalk has returned from a years tour of duty in Vietnam and is spending a 30day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Chalk. Following his leave, he will return to Viet nam for another tour of duty. Lewis Evans and daughters camped out on Greenwood lake a few days of vacation week. Miss Elaine Boyce and Mrs. Guy Misenhiemer and Mel of Chester visited Mrs. Mae Bow man at Charlotte Memorial Hos pital last Thursday. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hogan visit ed her. LEWIS ON LEAVE Sgt. James Lewis has just re turned from a years tour of duty in Bien Hoa, Vietnam. He will spend a 30 day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Lewis, and then report to Char leston. Enroute home, Sgt. Lewis visited his brother, Sp4 Danny Lewis and Mrs. Lewis in Colo rado. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Owens, Jessie and Rickey and Mrs. Eu- dean Bishop enjoyed a few days vacation at Myrtle Beach during the week of the 4th. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Gene Bishop and Bill joined by Miss Myra Martin of Greenwood, and Miss Elaine Simmons of Clinton attended the Rinehart Reunion in Saluda at the home of L. H. Rine hart, Jr. RETURNS FROM OHIO Mrs. Cleo Templeton who has t>een on an extended visit in To ledo, Ohio, has returned home. Her daughter, Mrs. Jean Bridges and family returned with her. ABRAMS ON LEAVE Sgt. Joe Abrams of the USAF of Altus AFB, okla., is spending a leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Abrams. On Aug. 10, he will leave the states for a tour of duty in Vietnam. Mrs. James E. Evans of Jo anna and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Morris of Prosperity spent the first three days of vacation week in Ocola, Fla., with Mrs. Lois Kirkland. The latter part of the week, Mrs. Evans spent in Green ville with Mrs. Willie Hendrix. Happy birthday today, July 17, to Fred Hayes Jr., andtiest wish es for a happy wedding anniver sary to Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Lindsay. Larry Brown celebrates a birthday on Friday, July 18. Bessie Lever observes a birth day im July 19. Link Attends ROTC Camp George Gregory Link of Clin ton is attending ROTC camp at Fort Bragg, N.C. A rising senior at Clemson University, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Link Jr. of 711 Shands St. The Clemson cadets went to camp June 21 and are to return home Aug. 1.
