anna Saturday at 11 a.m. at the
Associate Reformed Presby
terian Church. She is the daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. JosephSloan
Todd of 606 S. Broad St.
The bride was graduated from
Erskine College in 1968 with a
B. A. degree in biology. She
taught at Wade Hampton High
School in Greenville the past
year.
Mr. Shealy, who is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lee Shealy
of Laurens Street in Joanna,
earned an A.B. degree in English
from Newberry College in 1969.
Mrs. Andy Hubbard Barnett
of Clemson, sister of the bride,
was matron of honor; the broom’s
father was best man.
The Rev. Zeb C. Williams of
ficiated. Mrs. Thornton Stewart
served as organist, and Harry
Bolick III sang.
The bride wore her mother’s
dress of ivory satin and lace.
The long sleeves were edged in
lace ruffles, and the skirt was
ended in a train. She carried a
Psalm book covered in satin and
dating to the mid 1800s; it was
also carried by her mother and
sister.
A reception was given in the
church hall.

the engagement of their daughter,
Alice Virginia, to Richard Van
Brooks, son of Mr. and Mrs.
P. G. Brooks of Route 4, New
port, Tenn.
Miss Cunningham received a
B.S. degree in business education
from Winthrop College and is
presently employed by Tennessee
Eastman Company in Kingsport,
Tenn.
Mr. Brooks received a B.S.
degree in mechanical engineer
ing from the University of
Tennessee and a M.S. degree
from Georgia Institute of Tech
nology. He is a member ofTau
Beta Pi Honorary Engineering
Fraternity and the American So
ciety of Mechanical Engineers.
He is also employed by
Tennessee Eastman Comnany.
The wedding will take place on
August 3 at Rocky Springs Pres
byterian Church in Laurens.

ville-Spartanburg Airport Sun
day to see Paul League off for a
three weeks trip to Europe. Paul
was chosen as one of the 60 news
papermen in the U.S. to be given
a courtesy trip to the Common
Market countries. He is editor
and publisher of the Seneca Her
ald Tribune. His son also accom
panied him.

daughter, Kelly are visiting his

Tiller. Mr. Tiller left last week
for Vietnam for a year’s tour of
duty with the U. S. Army. Mrs.
Tiller and Kelly will leave next
week for a stay with her parents
in Colquitt, Ga.

who have been making their home
in San Diego, Calif, have been
transferred to Jacksonville, Fla.
where Mr. Rainey will be sta
tioned at the Naval Base with
U.S. Navy.

High School. Mrs. Pitts’ grand
son, Mike Jarvis was a member

Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a wedding
gown of candlelight peau de soie
and re-embroidered Alencon
lace. The bodice featured a por
trait neckline and short sleeves
and was accented with motifs of
lace interspersed with seed
pearls. The panel effect skirt
was highlighted in the back by
a flat bow and ended in a chapel
train. She wore a finger tip veil
of imported silk illusion attached
to a Dior bow embroidered in
pearls.
Mrs. Lloyd McCrary Kapp of
Columbia, sister-in-law of the
bride, was matron of honor and
Miss Ann Mary Stirling, also of
Columbia, was maid of honor.
Bridal attendants were Miss Eu
genia Childs Clarkson and Mrs.
George David Wilson, both of
Columbia, and Mrs. James Alvin
Brothers of Matthews, NX. The
attendants wore floor length
gowns of turquoise Saki featur
ing ruffles at the bateau neckline
and the hemline. They carried
bouquets of mixed garden
flowers.
Mr. Theodore Trezevant Tim
mons, brother of the groom, was
the best man.
Groomsmen were Mr. Robert
Parks Kapp Jr., brother of the
bride, Mr. Bernard Boyd Meng,
HI, Mr. David Therral Collier,
all of Columbia, and Mr. James
Michael Oliver of Greenville.
