Inventive City
The first steamship made
its trial run in Lyons,
France. This city became
the world’s silk capital after
the mulberry tree was in
troduced; Jacquard invented
his loom here; Ampere
worked on the laws of elec
trodynamics that led to mod
em great hydrolectric
works; and the brothers
Lumiere experimented with
the movie camera.
