Vehicles inspected in May a year age also are due for inspection. More than HI6,000 vehicles were inspected during: January, February and March, and an anticipated 100,000 more were inspected during: April. She is only a high school graduate, while I am a college graduate with two post-graduate degrees. This makes for a big educational gap between us which bothers me considerably. I’ve tried to prevail upon her to further her educa tion, but she shows no interest. She says she is just contented to be in love with me and to be a good wife after we’re married. Claude (Butch) Grady Jr., U.S. Marines has finished his basic training at Camp LeJeune, N.C., and is spending a 20 day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Grady Sr., Miss Peggy Grady of Edwardsport, Ind., is also visiting her parents. Miss Priscilla Gaskins of An derson spent a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gaskins. Frank Gaskins of Clem- son University is home for two weeks with his parents. On Saturday Mrs. Gaskins and Mrs. Helen Gregory visited Mrs. W. E. Stoggs of Belton, who is a patient in the Anderson Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Motte, Larry Motte and Glenda Wyatt were in Augusta, Ga., on Sunday to visit their son, brother and un cle, Billy Motte in the Veterans Hospital. Mr. Motte’s sister, Mrs. Mildred Roberts and daugh ter of Greenville visited them on Tuesday of last week. Misses Nettie and Roberta Prince and Mrs. Dennis Lanford were guests of their brother Ernest Prince and Mrs. Prince in Marietta, Ga., Sunday. Mrs. Sidney Oakley is spend ing the month of May with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Espieg in Ar lington Heights, Illinois. ENTERS MARINES Jummy Patterson left Sunday for Parris Island where he will receive his basic training, after enlisting in the U.S. Marines. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Patterson of Elm St. Friday evening a going away party was given for Jimmy by Floyd Ballew, Mrs. Sarah Shel- nut and Mrs. Patterson. Emory Promoted To Staff Sergeant Billy Emory, sot of Mr. and Mrs. Looney C. Allen, Route 3, Clinton, was promoted to Army staff sergeant March 21 while as signed to the 19th General Sup port Group in Korea. Sgt. Emory is a member ofthe group’s Headquarters Company near Seoul. He entered the Army in August 1964, completed basic training at Ft Jackson, and was last stationed at Ft. Sam Hous ton, Texas. The 27-year-old soldier at tended Clinton High School. Be fore entering the Army, he was employed by Joanna Mills. What can I do when ink has been spilled on a furniture top? A. Quickly blot up as much of the ink as you can, then apply a dampened cloth to the spot and press it down firmly. Turn the cloth to a clean place, and again press it against the stain, repeating as many times as may be necessary. Do not rub the ink in. Ink also washes off some sur faces easily. Q. What can I do when I have inadvertently added too much salt to food while cooking? A. Stretch a clean cloth tight ly over the vessel and sprinkle a tablespoon of flour over the cloth. The flur will absorb the salt if allowed to steam for a few minutes. Q. How can I clean the insides of glass drinking straws? A. Just by running some of hubby’s pipe cleaners through them. Q. How can I remove old water paint from a concrete wall? A. Dissolve a pound of tri sodium phosphate in one gallon of hot water, and apply this sol ution very liberally, soaking the walls thoroughly. Then scrub witli a stiff wire brush, removing all the paint from the crevices and cracks. Q. I seldom get the use of more than about half of my tubes of household cement, because it hardens. How can I remedy this situation? A.
