THE CHRONICLE, Clinton, S. C., April 24, 1969—S-A About People You Know Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Brown and son, Frank, of Savannah, Ga., spent the weekend with their son and brother, John H. Brown and family. They came especially for the infant baptism of their little granddaughter, Cynthia Suzanne Brown, which took place Sunday at Broad Street Methodist Church. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Howard Watkins Jr., have returned to Clinton to make their home and are pre sently with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Watkins on Spartan burg Highway. Mr. Watkins has completed his service with the U. S. Navy, and was based at San Diego, Calif. * * * Mrs. Tlllie Tucker is a pa tient at the Greenwood Nursing Home, having been transferred from a Columbia hospital where she had been ill for some time. * * * Mrs. A. A. Batton arrived last week from Port Gibson, Miss., and is spending some time with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. A. B. Stump while her husband is serv ing a six months tour of active duty with the National Guard at F ort Polk, La. * * * Mrs. Murray Summerville has returned from a visit with her son-in-law and daughter, Capt. and Mrs. Mac Gaffney and little daughter, Donna Adair, at Bos sier City, La. Capt. Gaffney is stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base. Mrs. Summerville accom panied her brother and sister-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Nabors of Laurens who visited their daughter, Mrs. Jerry Sparks and Mr. Sparks in Lufkin, Texas. Mrs. Sparks returned home with them for a visit * * * Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grubb and Martin were called to Wythevilie, Va., Friday, due to the death of Mr. Grubb’s father, E. Bowman Grubb, * * * Mr. and Mrs. Mason Grubb at tended the funeral of Mrs. Grubb’s grandfather at Wythe- vllle, Va., Sunday. * * * Mr. and Mrs. James T. Smith of Columbia spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Holland. * * + Having completed basic train ing at San Diego Naval Training Base, Seaman Apprentice J. L. (Chip; Brawley Jr., is spending a 15 day leave with his mother, Mrs. Robert H. Adair and Mr. Adair. Chip returns to San Diego for six months naval commissary training this week. * * * Mrs. E. L. Holland was in Co lumbia on Monday to visit a nephew, Frank Stewart, who is a patient at Veteran’s Hospital there. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ramage and Tommy and Mr. and Mrs. Grady Chandler spent Sunday in Charleston, visiting Miss Elea nor Mahon and touring the gar dens and other places of interest. * * * Mrs. John Clark has returned home after several weeks stay in Georgetown. * * * Friends in Clinton of Miss Ethel Langston will be interested to know that she is ill. * * * FATHER PASSES Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Daw son and son Wendy, were called to Isle of Palms last week due to the death of his father, Leo J. Dawson. Funeral services were held Saturday morning. Attending the funeral from Clinton were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Horton and the Rev. E. W. Rogers. * * * Miss Nikki Allison ofChar- lotte, N.C., spent the weekend with Miss Judy Nabors. LOSES SISTER Mr. and Mrs. Tom Plaxico, and daughters, Sharon and Loraine, and Mrs. Wiley Mf^nk were called to Macon, Ga., Friday due to the death of the latter’s daughter, and Mrs. Plaxico’s sister, Mrs. Walter Groover. Funeral ser vices were held Sunday afternoon at Macon with interment in Moul trie. Mrs. Groover was the for mer Marilyn Monk. * * * Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Horne were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Guy E. Hancock at Isle of Palms. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Fincan- non and children are moving to Whiteville, N.C. where Mr. Fin- cannon has accepted a position. ♦ * * “Mr. and Mrs.'ffSFJttnpson Jr., and children are occupying their new home on Chestnut St. They formerly lived in Joanna. * * * PFC. Joe Wilkie has returned to Gulfport, Miss., after a tour of duty in Vietnam. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Grady Chandler spent the past weekend in Colum bia, with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ox ley and family. * * * Mrs. W. W. Harris spent the weekend in Newberry with Mr. and Mrs. George Senn. On Mon day the Senns with their child ren, Elizabeth, Foster spent the day in Charleston visiting Mag nolia Gardens and Ft. Sumter. * * * Dr. and Mrs. George Bellin- grath are spending several days in Baton Rouge, La., and Bellin- grath Gardens, La. * * * Herschel Thomason has re turned to work after several weeks illness. * * + Mr. and Mrs. Beau Gardner, Mrs. Harold Murphy, Mrs. J. C. Gruber and Miss Linda Wise went to Florence to visit Mrs. Mozelle Gardner. Mrs. Gardner has recently fallen and broken her leg while staying with a daughter, , Mrs. L. C. Starrett She is now a patient In the Saunders Hospital, i Mrs. R. E. Sadler has returned home after spending sometime in Los Angeles, Calif., with her daughter, Miss Virginia Sadler. * * * B. L.
