Mrs. Betty Sue Flemming- Jones and son, Robert, of Aus tin, Texas returned to her home on Saturday after spending sev eral weeks with her parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Spillers. Mrs. Ella Harvey visited her sister, Mrs. Mattie Bergmy in Laurens, Sunday. Mrs. Bergmy returned home with her for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Duncan of Charleston spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Windsor. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Floyd of near Royston, Ga., were the guests of his sister and brother- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Hea ton, and other relatives, Sunday. Mrs. M. W. Adams and Miss Sheila Campbell spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fort ner in Comb, Kentucky. Mr. and Mrs. Hampton Wiggins and Ray Lee Williams visited Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bearden on Friday night. Mrs. Annie Mae Caughman is spending this weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Gene Floyd in Green wood. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde “Sam" Owens of Spartanburg spent the weekend and Mrs. Inez Sorrow of Greenwood is spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. James Craine and Mrs. Rosa Owens. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Farmer spent Sunday in Joanna with Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Cole. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Laney visited Mr. and Mrs. James Laney and family in Greenville. Miss Sheryl Jackson of Win- throp College spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Sybil Jackson on Sunday were Mrs. Buck Smith, Mrs. Colman Bur ton, and Adam Hairston of Green wood. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wooten visited Mrs. Tom Hunnicutt in Greenville and also Mr. Hunni cutt, who is seriously ill at St. Francis Hospital, Greenville. Mrs. Louise Couch, Grace Motes, and Cornelia Jackson visited friends in Greenwood, Sunday. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Samples were Mrs. Ruby Watson and Mrs. C. M. Giles of Woodruff. Troy Todd and children, Tommy and Mary Edra, spent the weekend with Mr. Todd’s mother, Mrs. Melton Todd inClaxton, Ga. REVIVAL Revival services will begin February 19 through 23 with Rev. Willard Patterson of Woodruff as the evangelist at the Church of God on Elizabeht Street. Rev. F. D. Moore, pastor of the church, gives the public an invitation. BIRTHDAY PARTY Brian Beaman enjoyed a party on Saturday, February 8, in honor of his 9 birthday. Fifteen guests enjoyed games and refreshments which consisted of sandwiches, cake, and potato chips. Brian received many nice gifts. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Beaman. Glynis Prince, daughter of Mrs. Alice Prince, who was three years old, Saturday, February 8, enjoyed a birthday party. Games were enjoyed by the ten guests. Refreshments of ice cream, cup cakes, pepsi cola, and candy were served. Glynis received lots of nice gifts. CC Directors Meet The board of directors of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce will meet February 18, Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at Hotel Mary Mus- grove. President Louis M. Stephens will preside and committee chairmen will give reports. Wilkie Stationed In Vietnam Builder Third Class Joseph A. Wilkie, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Wilkie of Route 1, Clinton, has been in Vietnam for four months with Navy Mobile Construction Battalion 12. The battalion is halfway through its tour of duty in Da- nang’s Camp Adenir, where the Seabees have been constructing buildings and warehouses, and repairing bridges. Construction Battalion 12 was recalled to active duty from New England in May 1968, and after weeks of intensive military and technical training at its new homeport at Gulfport, Miss., the battalion was deployed to Viet nam in September last year. The reserve unit will return to Gulfport this spring, and will be released from active duty 30 days later. Feraell Speaks At Kiwanis Meet Ray Fernell, group manager of Southern Bell with offices in Clinton, will be featured speaker at the Kiwanis club meeting to night at Mary Musgrove Hotel. Fernell’s program is entitled “The Touchtone Telephone and The Consumer," which will pre view the telephone’s role in con sumer buying of the future. Fernell, who joined Southern Bell in 1950, served the com pany in Columbia, Aiken and Spartanburg before coming to Clinton. His present assignment as group manager includes man agement of telephone exchanges in Clinton, Union, Joanna, Whit mire and Jonesville. Miss Jerry Sawyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer re turned home on Saturday after undergoing surgery at St Fran ds Hospital in Charleston. Mrs. Will Craine has returned home after a few days stay at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Leopard are improving after being ill last week with a virus. Clifton Heaton, Sr. is a pa tient at Bailey Memorial Hos pital. Mrs. Mattie Vee Heaton, af ter being a patient for several days at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood, returned to her home last Wednesday and is im proving nicely.
