She is presently a senior music education major at the University of Georgia in Athens. The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Rockdale County High School, Conyers, Georgia, and a graduate of the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia, with B.A. and M.F.A. Degrees in mu sic literature. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Prefes- sional Music Fraternity. Pre sently he is a Naval Aviation Offi cer Candidate at Pensacola Na val Air Station, Florida. The wedding is planned for Saturday evening, April 26 at seven o’clock in the Northwood Baptist Church of Greer. A re ception will immediately follow at the church. Mrs. Ed Sadler entertained Saturday, a.m., December 21, in honor of Miss Julia Sadler, one of the 1968 debutantes. Guests arrived at the Sadler home on Dogwood Circle at 10:30 for the social hour and refresh ments of coffee and party dain ties. Decorations in the receiving rooms were lovely in Christmas colors of white, red, and gold. Red poinsettias and gold candles were used in arrangement. In the dining room a red and silver color scheme was used. The refreshment table was cov ered with a white Madeira linen cloth and centering the table was an arrangement of red and silver carnations in a silver container. Mrs. Lee S. McMillan of Lau rens poured coffee and Miss Martha Ann McMillan, also of Laurens assisted the hostess in the courtesies of entertaining. UDC To Meet The Stephen D. Lee Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy will meet Jan. 3 at 7:30 at the home of Mrs. Perry Moore on East Maple Street for their January meeting. LUNCHEON Mrs. W. L. Leary and Mrs. Rupert L. Leary entertained the 1968 Clinton Debutantes with a luncheon in honor of Miss Kay- ran Cox at the Greenwood Wo men’s Club at 1:00 p.m. on De cember 23. The Club was beautifully de corated in Christmas green and gold. Card tables were covered with green satin and the dining table was overlaid with an off- white lace table cloth. A gold epergne containing gold hydran geas centered the table and dark green candles flanked either side. The card tables were centered with small green and gold ar rangements. After being served cranberry Juice in the living room, the guests were led into the dining area and Mrs. Rupert Leary re turned thanks. The debutantes found their places marked with r small white and gold baskets filled with red poinsettias and their name card. The menu consisted of turkey and dressing, ham, green beans, potato souffle, apple rings, cran berry sauce, tea, and German chocolate cake. The honor guest, Miss Kayran Cox, wore a corsage of red car- •ations. BARN DANCE On Monday, December 23, at 8:00 p.m., Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Rogers and Mr. and Mrs. John Harmon entertained with supper and square dancing in honor of their daughters, Miss Virginia Rogers and Miss Susan Harmon, who are among the season’s deb utantes. Guests assembled at Jim Barnes Barn on the Laurens Rd. The barn was decorated in color ful array of the season. A Christ mas tree was used in one end. Tables bearing red checked cloths centered with red candles and holly were also used. Mistle toe hung from the ceiling. Bales of hay and saddles also carried out the Barn Dance effect. Hamburgers and hot dogs were served buffet style. Later in the evening cookies and punch were enjoyed. James Jacks Jr., called the square dances to recorded mu sic. Mr. John McMurray of Greer was an out of town guest and Miss Linda Mobley, of Califor nia, a cousin of Miss Harmon’s was also a guest Guests were invited for 11:00 a.m. and 12 noon to the Wilson home on Ansel Drive. Masters Tom and Bill Nabors greeted at the door. Mrs. R. E. Sadler, Sr. received the guests. A pink and white angel theme was used in the decoration, with the use of roses, carnations and chrysanthemuns. This theme was chosen because, honor guest, Mary Nabors is a Pi Beta Phi at the University of Arkansas, and the angel is a symbol for that sorority. Each deb received a pink carnation corsage centered with a minature angel, end Miss Na bors carried a nosegay of pink roses centered with an angel, presented to her by her parents. Appetizers were enjoyed be fore guests were invited into thf dining room where the brunch was served buffet style. On the menu were such party foods as chicken oriental, fruit bowl, sausage bis cuits, and assorted party size sweets, champagne and juice. The buffet table was centered with an arrangement of boxwood and pink roses topped with an angel. Pouring were Mrs. Gary Dill ard and Mrs. Ferdinand Jacobs Sr. Miss Amy Nabors assisted in entertaining in the dining room. Deborah Bennett Weds Mr. Patterson Among the out of town guests were Dr. and Mrs. Walter Coker of Spartanburg, Mrs. Bob Ogles by of Washington, D.C., Mr. and Mrs. Bob Stewart of New York City and York, S.C. and Mrs. Evelyn Hison of Alexandria, La. Miss Deborah Faith Bennett became the bride of Robert Gene Patterson at the First Baptist Church, Laurens on Dec. 20. Dr. Robert S. Cooper performed the 7 o’clock ceremoney. A re ception was held immediately af terwards in Bobo Chapel. The bride, who is the daugh ter of Dr. and Mrs. Victor G. Bennett of 103 Overbrook Dr., was given in marriage by her father. Her gown was of white bridal satin with lace appliques and an overlay of lace on the bodice. The dress featured cap t m ^ I i I m sleeves. Her veil was a finger tip-length lace mantilla with a appliqued bordered of lace and illusion. The bridal bouquet was fashioned of white gladiolus and red rose buds on a white lace muff. Miss Leah Dianne Spires of An derson, honor attendant and Miss Vicky Dianne Moore of Green ville, bridesmaid wore floor length dresses of emerald green velvet dress designed with capped sleeves. She wore a head piece of matching green illusion, at tached to a bow. Her flowers were red carnations attached to a green velvet muff. Ushers were Marion Waters, Don Johnson of Clinton and Steve Waldrep of Greenwood. Robert Cook of Clinton served as best man. Mrs. Lee McMillan, or ganist, provided the nuptial mu sic. The bride, who is a graduate of Laurens High School, is a sophmore at Lander College, Greenwood. Mr. Beaty served two years with the Marine Corps, includ- J ing 13 months active duty in Vietnam. He was discharged in April, 1967. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Orin Francis Beaty of 501 S. Broad St, he is employed by the Clinton Bearings Plant of the Torrington Company. The bride is a senior at Clin ton High School and is the daugh ter of Mrs. Dorothy Mae Matthews Wise of 514 Pickens St in Joanna. She chose a peau de^soie dress with embroidery of alencon lace and seed pearls. The center of the chapel train was embroidered in lace and a satin bow. Miss Patricia Roland of Clin ton and Miss Laura Waits of Jo anna attended the bride along with Mrs. Jack Wilson Davis Jr. of Atlanta and the junior brides maids, Miss Deborah Wise, the bride’s sister, and Miss Milly Davis of Atlanta. Miss Wendy Wise was flower girl, and Mrs. Michael W. Campbell, the bride’s sister, was matron of honor. Mrs. Campbell wore a pink peau de sole dress with pink sequins trimming the Empire bodice. The long sleeves and Wat teau panel were pink lace. Bridesmaids appeared in deep rose peau de soie. The groom’s father was best man. His brothers/David, Ste phen, Michael and George, ushered with John AllenofKings- tree. Mrs. Grace League Connor provided organ music.
