THE CHRONICLE. Clinton, S. C., December 19, 1968—9 Church of Christ Architect’s Sketch Young Church Plans Sanctuary Seven people gathered in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ham on Sunset Boulevard on the first Sunday in January, 1964. From that first service grew the Church of Christ of Clinton. Almost four years later, the 35-member church is embarking on a$35,000buildingprogram. The congregation purchased a house at 603 N. Broad St. in February, 1964, and continued meeting there until demolition began last week to make way for the new church. The new building will consist of an auditorium with a seating capacity of 160 persons. There will be space for class rooms, nursery, minister’s study. Evangelist U. A. Hall served as minister of the church through June, 1968, when he was suc ceeded by Evangelist Milton S. Parker. The new building is being con structed by Anco Structures, Inc., of Montgomery, Ala., with A. R. Tillery as consultant. The build ing is being financed by the sale of bonds. The Church of Christ is based strictly on the New Testament, according to A. C. King, a trustee for the local church. The church is particularly strong inTennes- REAR VIEW OF CHURCH OF CHRIST BUILDING . . . Being Demolished To Make Way For New Structure see, King said. He added “You see about as many Churches of Christ in Tennessee as you see Baptist churches in South Caro lina.” The church does not use music in its worship services and, therefore, has no musical in struments in the church. “We aren’t opposed to music,’ News of Joanna By MRS. \\ .1.
