Mr. and Mrs. David Trice of Fayetteville, N.C. and daughter, Linda Hunter, student at Vardell Hall, were weekend guests of Mrs. Earle Workman. Tom Hunter of Spartanburg was Sun day dinner guest. Col. (Ret.) Ned S. Hays of San Antonio. Texas spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. C. W. Stone. He also attended P.C. Homecoming. George Frady Jr., student at Fork Union, Va., spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Frady Sr. Willard Jones of Silver Springs, Md. attended the P.C. Homecoming and was a guest of Dr. ana Mrs. D. 0. Rhame. Dr. and Mrs. G. C. King and family of Summerville, Ga. spent the weekend with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Ja cobs. Fleming Mason spent the week end with his sister, Mrs. C. D. Nance. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Kugler of Myrtle Beach visited her father, Mr. C. C. Giles, who was a pa tient at Bailey Memorial Hospi tal. Harry McSween, Jr., who is currently studying for his MA Degree at the University of Geor gia, is spending ten days in Mexi co, where he is attending the In ternational Geological Confer ence in Mexico City. Col. and Mrs. Joel M. Hollis and daughter, Francie of Ft. Ben- ning, Ga., spent the weekend as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Hollis and family. Coming es pecially for P.C. Bill Quarles of Clinton, stu dent at the Baptist College at Charleston, is listed among pro gram personalities at the Bap tist Student Union Convention which was held at Columbia’s First Baptist Church Nov. 8- 10. Guests of Coach Lonnie Mc- Millian on Saturday afternoon af ter homecoming at P.C. were Jerry Norton of Columbia and Dedda McCummings of Washing ton, Ga. There were many “oohs” and “ahs’ and much exchanging. Friday was group picture day. We also enjoyed chapel Fri day. Guest speakers who were in charge of busesat various high schools gave a wonderful pro gram on bus safety. Now may be there will be fewer accidents and less misbehaving on the area buses. Results of our magazine sale are wonderful' The students sold over fifty six hundred dollars worth of subscriptions. With our share of the money Clinton Jun ior High’s stage is now tiedecked with lovely, crimson drapes. The curtains are clean and the whole auditorium looks -no hundred per cent letter. We even have a new screen' Sometime this week students should be receiving their prizes. Homerooms 8-7 and4-8 will have ice cream parties for being the two high homerooms. Sections 8-7 and 8-6 had a real fued over who was the letter homeroom in the magazine sale, but 8-7 won, with over a thousand dollars’ worth. Mrs. Poole, our librarian, was called to Tryon, N.C., because of the death of her father. BY LINW(X)I) COX The Physical Education De partment of Clinton High has re cently liegun the Girls' Athletic Club which caters to all girls desiring to participate in inter mural athletics. Ttiis organiza tion will also render its ser vices to the student body by offi ciating during intermural com petitions and by participating in PC Newspaper Rates High The Presbyterian College stu dent newspaper received a first- class honor rating for issues -f last semester, according to the Associated Collegiate Presscri- tical rating released today. The weekly, entitled The Blue Stocking, received 640 out of a possible 800 points in gaining a rating just below All American. fund-raising activities around Clinton High. Ttie Girls' Athletic Club is < pen f-r membership to any girl in grades 0 - 12. It sponsors team sports such as volleyball and bas ketball, and individual and dual sports, such as ping pong and ten nis. Each girl attaining 600 points in the intermural program will t>e awarded a block “C in recog nition of their outstanding achievements. This club had Us first organi zational meeting November 6 and the following officers were elect ed: President - Almeda Rogers, vice-president - Kathy Frady, secretary - MargaretGray, trea surer - Cynthia Turner, reporter - Susan Undari.
