Popcorn has a hard, tough, waterproof covering So when popcorn is heated, the nat ural moisture inside the kernels can t escape When it's healed enough, though, the moisture turns to steam and the kernels explode. Balance the yardstick by placing each end of the nail on a tall drinking glass, as shown in the picture Attach an empty balloon with a rubber hand to one end of the sardstick On the other end. to make a perfect bal ance. tape a dime or penn\ or at tach a paper clip Now take the balloon off and blow it up When you attach it again, full of air sou'll see that end of the sardstick dip down. CHARLIE BRADSHAW Will Have An Office In Clinton When He is Elected To Congress. James R. Mann Has Said It Is Not Feasible To Do So. (Paid for by Laurens County friends of Charlie Bradshaw) [ONDAY - TUESDAY. NOVEMBER 4-5 Counterpoint During the Battle of the Bulge a world-renowned American symphony orchestra, on tour in Bel gium-for the USO, is captured by the enemy. The musicians are taken to field headquarters for execution. But a music-loving Nazi general (Maximilian Schell), delighted with his famous prisoners, countermands the instructions concern ing them, and orders a performance led by the group’s great conductor (Chariton Heston). The conductor, ifnperious as the General himself, re fuses, and demands that his players be released as non-combatants. A running battle between the two strong-minded men ensues, with the musicians’ lives at stake, until Belgian partisans and a delaying ruse provided by rehearsals bring about an explosive ending. Well integrated into the film’s plentiful action, the music gives the war adventure special distinction. STARTS WEDNESDAY. NOVEMBER 6 DIRECT FROM WORLDWIDE RESERVED SEAT ENGAGEMENTS...
