r v i2—THE CHRONICLE, Clinton, S. C„ October 17, 1968 Dear Sally •; BY SALLY SHAW -DEAR SALLY: I’m a girl of 25, and the sole breadwinner for njy mother and me. This is all right, but I’m getting more and more fed up with my mother’s constant complaints, her criti cisms of my hair, my clothes, my dates, and if I’m as much as Qfteen minutes late getting home ffcom work she questions me as though I were still a child. I think she just has too much time on her hands, and I’ve suggest ed that she get herself a job -- maybe just baby-sitting-that this would be good for her and it would also help us very much financially. But then she always comes back at me with, ‘So you want to send your poor old mother out to work!” It so happens that •my poor old mother’ is only 4$ years old, and in robust health. What can I do about this? I need advice badly! OVERWROUGHT. DEAR OVERWROUGHT: Stop allowing yourself to be the dominated daughter of a dom ineering mother. Make it clear to her that, inasmuch as it’s your salary that supports the house hold, you are the nominal head of the home and will not tolerate her complaints, criticisms, and questioning of your whereabouts. Insist again that she take up some kind of work, even if it’s just b$by-sitting -- because definitely she does need some active out side interest. DEAR SALLY: I’m a boy of 13 who thinks it’s unfair that my parents insist that I take turns with my 15-year-old sister wash ing dishes every night after din ner. I think I’m too old to be ex pected to do sissy stuff like this around the house, and I’m sure Chat if some of my buddies knew gbout it they would make plenty 'of fun at me. What do you say about this? JUNIOR. •: DEAR Junior: I say there is 'nothing in the least sissy about washing dishes, and if there were, lots and lots of grownup he-men are guilty of it. This is a house hold chore, Just like carrying out the trash, scrubbing the floor, or washing the car ... and house hold chores should be done by both boys and girls . . . will ingly. DEAR SALLY: About a year ago, the announcement of my en gagement along with my picture appeared in our local newspaper. Then about five months later, my fiance and I had a violent disagreement and our engage ment was broken. However, a month ago he and I became re conciled, patched up our differ ences, and have now decided to become engaged all over again. Under these circumstances, is it proper for me to insert another announcement in the newspaper of our new engagement? SECOND TIME AROUND. DEAR SECOND TIME: No. A second announcement of a second engagement to the same man would not be in the best of taste. Much better this time just to spread the news verbally. NOTE TO BESIEGED: Try your best to avoid being caught any where alone with the old goat, but if you are, one of the best weapons to discourage the amor ous advances of a would-be Cas anova is laughter. Show him that you consider his tactics funny, and this more than anything else will stop him. * * * CREDITOR’S NOTICE All persons having claims a- gainst the estate of Kathryne H.
