Pitts St. Telephone 833-1028 What’s in a name.'’ sometimes a lot more thought or tradition goes into choosing a name than most people think. Some civili zations have certain rules or traditions to follow in naming children. The ancient Greeks, for instance, always named the first son in a family after his grand father. The Norwegians made the naming process more compli cated by naming the first son and daughter after the paternal grandparents and then using the names of the maternal grand parents for the second son and - daughter. Russian children are given their father’s name as their middle name with the ending ovich or ovna added to indicate “son or or “daughter of’. In some West African tribes the children are named after the day of the week on which they are born. Of course, once a person is given a name about the only way to ‘ change it is by legal means or by marriage. If you’re planning on changing ; your name soon by getting ■ married, Dillard Boland : Jewelers, can help you make this i change smoothly.
