Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gambrell and son, Scott of Laurens visit ed her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Satterfield, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Owens of Gray Court were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. O’Shield’s. The O’Shields’s visited friends in Whitmire on Sunday June 2. Mrs. Bobby Johnson, Mia, Cookie and Joe Johnson, Lizanne Wright and Joe Hauston, enjoyed the weekend at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Cooper and Becky were inColumbiaSun- day to visit his father, S. Broadus Cooper who is ill in the Columbia Hospital. The Coopers have visited him at intervals since his illness of a couple of weeks. Mrs. Frank Walker and Mary with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wrenn of Waterloo attended a surprise birthday dinner for the former and latter’s brother Henry Wea thers at his home near Fountain Inn, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Morton and family were called to Wood ruff on last Wednesday due to the death of his mother, Mrs. W. T. Morton. Funeral services were held in Woodruff Thursday. Mrs. L. W. Abercrombie was accompanied home on last Mon day by her daughter, Mrs. Joe Carroll, Mr. Carroll and family of Pendleton after her visit with them and her daugher Mrs. Harold Clardy and Mr. Clardy in Greenville. While in Pendleton she attended the high school grad uation of her granddaughter Jean Carroll. J. D. Revis of Spartanburg visited his mother, Mrs. Fred Mathis and family, Sunday. He iso visited his sister-in-law, \!>.... Roland Revis and new son in B-iiley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Paul Glenn and Misses Deidre Glenn and Vicki Turner of Greenville were Saturday guests of the former’s sister, Mrs. Clyde Trammell andMrs. Tram mell. They also visited another sister, Miss Ferollne Seay in Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McPherson of Chester spent Sunday with her mother, Mi;s. W. P. Terrell and sister, Mrs. Mildred Dickerson. They also visited Mr. Terrell in the Laurens Rest Home. W. P. Terrell observed his 80th birthday Monday June 10. He is in the Laurens Rest Home. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Staggs and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Rush of Belton, Mr. and Mrs. John Starnes of Laurens and Miss Priscilla Gaskins of Anderson were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gaskins during the week end. David Gaskins returned home Sunday after undergoing surgery last week in Self Me morial Hospital in Greenwood. Mrs. Robert Bailey and child ren of Anderson spent Sunday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McLendon and Mrs. Jim Bailey. The McLendon’s visited Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Wicks in Chester on Sunday morning. In the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thompson of Laurens visited her sister, Mrs. McLendon and Mrs. B.F. Harvey and their families. Mr. andMrs. Jimmy James and children, Tina and RonnyandMr. and Mrs. Darrell Lawson and family spent the weekend at Myrtle Beach. Larry (Chet) Osment will re port to Ft. Jackson on Wednes day to take his physical examina tion for the U.S. Army. Rev. and Mrs. M. J. Sanders, Malcolm Sanders and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Sanders and Renee spent the weekend with Rev. San der’s mother, Mrs. N. J. San ders in Palatka, Fla. On Satur day they attended a birthday cele bration of his grandfather, J.W. Works, who was 90 years old, in Tavares, Fla. Five generations of the family were present for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. William Stone and family of Pasadena, Texas are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell and other relatives. The Stone’s are plan ning to move back to S.C. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Ginn and daughters of Simpsonville visited her mother, Mrs. Claude Willard on Tuesday. Tommy Ray Willard of Sumter is spending a tew weeks with his grandmother, Mrs. Claude Willard and other rela- BAPTIST CHURCH NEWS Vacation Bible School will be gin Monday June 17 at 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. instead of 8:30 a.m. as previously announced through June 21. The theme is “Venture With God Into The Unknown” with classes for children 4 years old through 12 years old. All children in the community are invited. A new class will be held this year in the evenings of the same week from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30p.m. for everyone 13 years old and up through the oldest adult. “How to Succeed in Family Living” by Dr. Clyde M. Narramore will be taught. This is for anyone in the com munity in this age bracket. TO RECOGNIZE FATHERS At the Sunday morning 11 o’clock worship hour the fathers will be honored, recognizing the youngest and oldest father pre sent, the father with the most children present and also the grandfather with the most grand children present. CHRISTIAN HOME WEEK Sunday will lie the beginning of Christian Home Week with the theme “The Church Serving The Family.” On Wednesday night a film “The Family That Changed The World” will be shown. PENTECOSTAL CHURCH NEWS A picnic will be held on Sat urday at 6:30 p.m. at the Lydia Pentecostal Holiness Church for those attending Vacation Bible School this week. Commencement for the Bible School will be Sunday morning at the 11 a.m. worship hour. Rev. Roscoe Bryan is the church pastor. PARTY FOR 7 YEAR OLD Mrs. Allen White Jr. assisted by her mother Mrs. R. E. Whit mire entertained on Friday May 31 with a birthday party for Kenny White who was celebrating his 7 birthday. The ten little folks present en joyed several games before being invited into the dining room for refreshments! The table was centered with the cake which Mrs. White had made in a replica of a Circus Big Top, this was cut and served with ice cream, nuts and cold drinks. DEAN’S LIST —David T. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fryfogle of Merrie Oaks. Craine Returns Fireman Apprentice James P. Craine, USN, 21, son of Mrs. Ed ward C. Warren of Route 2, Clinton, has returned to the U.S. aboard the guided missile de- troyer USS Lawrence after more than four months in the Mediter ranean Sea. Miller attended the Greenwood High School Commencement Monday night. Their granddaughter Gin ger Rodgers graduated. Mrs. Frank Simpson and girls of Joanna spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. L. T.
