Plaxieo Chevrolet 400 WEST MAIN J Jaycees. Torrington Joanna went into the games of the season tied for first place in the Men's league. In the first game, Joanna met the Jaycees. had a hard time finding the basket and were downed by a score of 54 to 32. In the second game, played at the National Guard Arm ory Monday night, Torring ton squared off against the Has-Beens. With a win, the Torrington Co. would become League Champions. The Has- Beens seemed to have other ideas and at the end of the •first half were ahead 20 to 1H. The second half was just as hard-fought by both teams and at the end of regulation play the score was tied. 41 to 41 The Torrington T earn went on to win the game and the championship by out scoring the Has-Beens 5 to 2 in the overtime. The teams will now enter a single elimination playott starting next Monday with Torrington and the Jaycees playing the 7:00 game and Joanna and the Has-Beens meeting in the 8 o’clock game. The two winners will meet the next Monday even ing for the playoff ehamp- 1 ionship game and final game , of the season. LASSIE LFAGl’E ' Last Friday afternoon, the Lassie League Girls gathered at the Armory to play their regular seheduled games. J Joanna and the Tuff-Tumpies started off the afternoon ae- tion at 3:30. Joanna had very little trouble with the Turn- pies and out-scored them 27 to 6. In the second game, the Phillies played the Cougars. The game was very close throughout and was won by the Phillies on a foul shot af- I ter regulation-had ended. The score was Phillies 17, Cou gars 16. The Phillies’ win ov er the Cougars places the j league lead in a tie between Joanna and the Phillies with one more game to be played. INTERMEDIATE BOYS On Tuesday afternoon at the Armory, the Cougars and the Panthers met in the first game of a doubleheader in the Intermediate B o y’s League. The Panthers ran away with the Cougars by a score of 41 to 22. In the sec- cond game, the undefeated Red Devils, coached by Bob Smith met the Tigers, coach ed by Lynn Caricofe. This time the Tigers were just a little more than the Red Dev ils could handle and the Red Devils went down to their first defeat by a score of 25 to 20. The league teams play their last games this Tuesday with the Cougars meeting the Red Devils at 3:15 and the Panthers playing the Tigers .it 4:15. Jl’NTOR LEAGl E In games played in the Junior League at the Clinton High School, the Buds were defeated by the Warriors, 53 lo 15 In the second game ol the morning, the Tigers beat the Ducks 22 to 17. They were the last games of the season lor the Junior League. The Warriors won the League Championship with a 9-0 Ree ord .
