A Queen ol Hearts and Lit- -tle Miss Queen of Hearts will be crowned Feb. 22 at the Heart Fund Show to be held at Belk Auditorium on the Presbyterian College campus. The show i- to start at 7:30 pm. | Clinton area contestants are: Kay Caldwell, senior at Clinton Hij>h ^School; Jan Kin«, junior at CHS: Kathy Frady, CHS sophomore; Cyn thia Turner, CHS freshman; Beth Johnson, Clinton Junior High eighth grader; and Pat ti Sherrill, 7th grader at Clinton Junior High. Also, l^aura Jacobs and Jane Donnan, both fifth grad ers at Hampton Avenue; Mary Jane Wassung and Lisa Helms, Hampton Ave. fourth graders; Kim Lowery and Cindy Melton, representing Bailey Elementary. The local contestants will compete with contestants from throughout the county lor the two titles. A vote in the contest costs one penny and the contestant who receives the most votes will be crowned Queen of Hearts, if she is a high school student; or Little Miss Queen of Hearts, if she is an ele mentary school student. Peggy White of Fountain Inn, the current Miss South Carolina, will crown the queens. The two queens and run ners-up will receive prizes. The Queen of Hearts will re ceive a watch and the Little Mi ss Queen of Hearts will re ceive a luggage ease. The Heart Fund Show will feature Peggy White; the “Swinging Medallions” of Greenwood; “The Revengers” from Clinton High; “The Checkmates” from Laurens High; “The Dixie Rambler Barbershop Quartet,” The Quantum Quartet” from PC and Steve Spoon of Laurens. Segars •epresented the council at the legislative dinner held in Columbia on Tuesday even ing. Friends regret to learn of :he passing of Mrs. Maude J. Green of Forest City, N. C. She was *the mother of Mrs. Alec T. Brown, a former Cross Hill resident who now lives m Orangeburg. Mrs. B. L. Mitchell has re turned to her home from Self Memorial Hospital and is do ing nicely. Mrs. Hayne Workman Jr., left on Friday to Join Lt. Workman who is stationed at Fort Belvoir, Va. She was ac- copanied by Mr. and Mrs. Workman Sr. of Kinards. Mrs. W. W. Simpson of Clin ton visited relatives in town >n Saturday afternoon. Friends will be interested to know that Mr. Simpson is a pa tient in the Veteram’ Hospi tal in Augusta, Ga., where he went to undergo surgery to day, Feb. 13. Mrs. James Floyd and Mrs. H. M. Turner attended the funeral of Mrs. George Tyner of Due West. The Tyners were former residents on Lake Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Mills Reeder are receiving congratulations upon the birth of a son, Ken neth Mills III. The Reeders have three daughters. The ladies of Liberty Spring Presbyterian Church present ed the Segars family with a linen shower. The gifts were taken to the home of Mrs. E. R. Austin and Mrs. W. M. Leaman on Saturday after noon.
