Littleton Faces Key Season In Baseball Career Clinton Places Three On All-State Clinton High School’s football team placed three players on the class AA All-State team and six on the Eastern Conference all-star squad. End Billy Freeman and Halfback Gary Camp bell were named to the All-State first team and Fullback Johnny Jacks was on the second team. Clinton and Union dominated the All-Eastern Conference teams with six selections each. Con ference Champion Woodruff is represented with two players. Freeman, currently in Charlotte, N. C„ to par ticipate in Saturday’s Shrine Bowl game, was named to both the offensive and defensive con ference team. Lucien was named to the team as a guard on offense. Jacks and Campbell were on the offen sive team as backs. On the defensive squad is Clintpn middle guard Harvey White. The all-conference selections will be honored December 14 at the conference football banquet in Union. The conference “coach of the year” will be announced at the banquet. Kinard Littleton, one of Clinton’s all-time great ath letes, views the next base ball season as a pivotal one in his future. “I guess you could say it is a do-or-die year as far as my professional baseball car eer is concerned,” Littleton said in an interview this week. “Unless I have a good sea son and make the major league team or at least have some indication that I can make it, I may have to call it a career, ‘‘he said. Littleton, currently at home for about 10 weeks af ter playing in the Winter In structional League at Saraso ta, Fla., thinks his chances of making a major league team next season are good. Wilson Wins Tourney By CLARK MEADORS Sammy Wilson won the first annual round 600 Club Tour nament last weekend at Pal metto Lanes. Wilson defeated Bradshaw Bagwell in the finals of the tournament which attracted about 30 entries. Gholdie Simmons rolled the high game (258) and high series (682) of the tourna ment, but it came in the con solation round after he had a poor qualifying round. Harold Smith was third place winner in the cham pionship division. A scries of match games will start at 2 p.m. Sunday with teams expected from Greenville, Easley, Anderson and Clinton.
