The four-acre lot is on Highway 72, just beyond the south west city limits. Participating in the ceremonies, in addition to church and auxiliary officials, were the Rev. Dr. Karl W. Kinard, president of the Lutheran Synod of South Carolina; .*&*■•••** the Rev. Harold G. Skinner, dean of the Piedmont District of the Synod; the Rev. Edwin W. Rogers, vice pres ident of the Clinton-Joanna Minis terial Association; a representative of the architectural firm of Tarleton and Tankersley of Greenville; and a representative of W. E. ' ; t Gaffney Receives The Air Medal U. S. Air Force First Lieu tenant Charles M. Gaifney Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Gaifney of Rt. 2, Cl nton, has reee vcd the Air Medal at Binh Thuy AB, Vietnam. Lieutenant Gaffney was decorated for his outstanding airmanship and courage as a pilot on successful and im portant missions under haz ardous conditions. The lieutenant, a member of the Pacific Air (Forces, was assigned to the 3550th Pilot Training Wing at Mbody AFB, Ga., before his arrival in Vietnam. A graduate of Clinton High School, he received his B. A. degree in economics from Clemson University and was Commissioned there upon completion of the Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps program. His wife, Sylvia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Summerville of 300 S. Owens St., Clinton. Power Returns 1 Boatswain’s Mate Second Class Larry L. Power, USN\ son of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus L. Power of 305 Alusgrove St., Clinton, has returned to the United States after a seven- month deployment to the Far Last aboard the anti-submar ine support warfare aircraft carrier USS Hornet. During the deployment the Hornet operated as a unit of the Seventh Fleet in the Gulf of Tonkin with the mission of halting the flow of supplies Irom North Vietnam to ene my forces in the south. Horrelson Promoted Radioman Third Class Robert A. Harrelson, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Harrelson of 400 Ellis Ave., Joanna, was advanced to his present rate . while serving at the U. S. Naval Auxiliary Air Station, Meri dian, Miss. The advancement was bas ed on the results of a compe titive professional examina tion given to all eligible Navy personnel within this specialty rating. Also consi dered were performance of duties, time in service and time in grade. King In Viotngm Marine Corporal Ronald W. King, son of Mrs. L. L. King of Clinton is serving with the Logistic Support Activity, Force Logistic Command at Khe Sanh, Vietnam. Force Logistic Command, with Headquarters near Da Nang, received and processes more than 40,000 supply re quests a month. Its drivers covered more than a million and a half miles last year, distributing more than 300,- OOOt ons ol cargo and nearly 8,000,000 gallons of water.
