C., Thursday, October 26, 166T I * ■ * ^ You Can Use Apples Many Ways c y 3 cup flour y* teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons shortening Vi cup dry cottage cheese Apple-Custard Filling 3 cups sliced apples 3 eggs 1 tablespoon liquid Sucaryl IVi cups skim milk Vi teaspoon vanilla Nutmeg To prepare pie shell, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until consistency of corn meal. Force cheese through a sieve or food mill; add to flour mixture and mi*, with a fork until dough forms a ball. Roll between 2 sheets of Waxed paper which has been lightly floured. Turn into a 9-incn pie-plate. Fill crust with apple slices. Combine eggs, Sucaryl. milk and vanilla, mixing well. Pour over apples; sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake in a moderate oven (350°F.) 40 to 50 minutes, or until a knife inserted near center comes out clean. Makes 6 servings, each 178 CALORIES; 9.5 grams protein; 7.5 grams fat; 19 grams carbohydrate.
