Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Crouch were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Crouch, Shari and Scott of Woodruff. Mr. and Mrs. George Crab tree were in Bluefield, W. Va. for the weekend visiting rela tives. IN SERVICE James A. Taylor will report to Ft. Jackson on Oct. 31 to begin basic training. Mrs. Etta McCluney of Chester was a weekend guest of Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Flow. Mr. and Mrs, P. F. Swy- gert spent a weekend recently in Atlanta, Ga. with Mrs. J. C. Doland. Mrs. John F. Lowman and Mr. and Mrs. Danny Bonsley spent Saturday in White Rock with Mrs. J. J. Lowman. Sunday guests of Mrs. John Lowman were Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lowman, Jr. and son Ronny of Greenwood. BIRTHDAY OCCASIONS Last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gardner were hosts to a birthday dinner given in honor of Mrs. Perry Lee Swy- gert. Eighteen were present including the guest of honor’s mother, Mrs. Hermie Wood of Newberry. Scott Connell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Connell and Shane Burnett, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Burnett were honored with a joint birthday party on Saturday afternoon. Games were played to suit the occasion and around 25 enjoyed refreshments of nuts, candy, cake squares and ice cream. Assisting theifr moth ers with the party were Pam and Deronda Frazier. Mr. and Mrs. John Herron and children were called to Warrenville Wednesday due to the death of Mrs. Herron’s nephew, David Sheppard. ATTEND FUNERAL Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morgan and Mrs. - Thomaa-Morgan at tended the mass funeral serv ices of Mr. and Mrs. George Rilehoofter, Mr. and Mrs. Manzy Rowe and two small daughters at Eastside Bap tist Church in Batesburg on Sunday. They were relatives of Mrs. Bill Morgan The Rilehoopers and Rowes were killed in an automobile wreck. Halloween carnival On Tutesday, Oct. 31st, there will be a Halloween Carnival at the Joanna Club house between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and join the fun. Don’t forget to dress up in those Halloween togs and you may be a winner of one of. the costume prizes. The carnival is being spon- hored this year by the civic organizations of the commu nity, and the proceeds will go to thie Joanna Fire Depart ment.
