Mrs. George Barratt Park, faster of Mrs. Hugh Buford of Clinton, was killed Saturday rporning in an airplane crash near Greenwood. Mrs. Park, the former Mar garet Leonard. 44, was a na tive of Reidville. Her hus band. president of the George W. Park Seed Co. of Green wood. was pilot of the twin- engine airplane and he also was killed in the crash. The crash occurred about one mile ndirtheast of Green wood shortlv after take - off from Greenwood Airport about 10:45 a.m. Saturday. In addition to Mrs. Buford. Mrs. Park is survived by a brother and another sister. Mr. and Mrs; Park are sur vived by two sons, and two daughters. Mr. Park also is survived by a brother. jL Miss Richey Funeral services were held Tuesday for Miss Edith Ric hey. 52, who died Monday in a Columbia hospital after a long illness. Miss Richey, formerly of Abbevi^e. was a sister to Mrs. J. Donnan Funeral services were held last week for Walker C. Don nan of Route 1, Laurens. Don nan, 48. died Oct. 3 at h s home after a sudden illness. ' He was a brother of Alv.n H. and James E. Donnan cf Clinton. State Olficers To Attend WMU Meeting Here On Oct. 17 beginning at 4:30 p. m.. the Laurens Coun ty Baptist Associational W. M. U. will hold a conference at the Davidson Street Baptist Church of this city. Special speakers for the meeting will be Mrs. E. R. Ellers, State W. M. U. Presi dent. and Miss Josephine Hai/ State Sunbeam Direc tor. The first session will be a business and inspirational meeting. After a finger lunch jsupper. which members are asked to bring, a second ses sion consisting of conferences of the Women’s Missionary Society, the youth directors and promotional chairmen. Drinks will be furnished by the Davidson Street Church Chapman Named PC Summer School Director Economics Professor W. Fred Chapman Jr., has been named director of Presbyter ian College’s 1968 summer school. President Marc C. Weersing announced today. Dr. Weersing said the new director will work under the general supervision of Aca demic Dean Joseph M. Gettys and in cooperation with the academic advisory committee of the faculty. Dr. George W. McGuire, chairman of the education department, will have primary responsibilty for the teachers’ workshop next June, to be held in con junction with the summer ses sion. Dr. Chapman, a native of Belton, has been chairman of the economics and business administration department at PC for two years. He is a gra duate of Clemson. with PhD from the University of Flori da. taught at Gemson for one year and served as an econo mist with the U. S. Depart ment of Agriculture. Chapman will continue to teach and handle the affairs of his department in addition to his duties as summer school director. Police Investigate Severpl Break-Ins A recent rash of break-ins is under investigation by the Clinton Police Department and arrests have been made in connection with at least two of the break-ins. Two teen - age Negro boys were arrested last week in connection with break-ins at the Gulf Oil Plant and Tum- blin’s. Two more break-ins were reported Monday morn ing in the same general area. Ginton Milling Co. and Clyde Wehunfs Body Shop were en tered and the offices vandaliz ed but only small change was reported missing. Tuesday ^ night. Wilson’s Curb Market, was entered but the only items reported miss ing were some keys. Sewing Class To Be Held . Adult sewing classes will be condujcted each Monday night from 7:30 to 9:30 in the Gin- ton High School home eco- ty>mics dept. It is sponsored by the State Dept, of Educa tion in School District 56. The project Magazine Sale Bailey is an annual event of the Clinton Music Club to raise funds for band camp scholarships for Clinton High’s outstanding band students. Modeling will be done by local chil dren, teen-agers and adults. Tick ets can be purchased from mem bers of the Clinton Music Club. i Memorial Revival Slated Students of Ginton Junior High School will have a ma gazine sale for two weeks, starting today. It is the only magazine sale to be conducted by the city school children. The proceeds will be used to secure books for the junior high library, which needs 10 books per stu dent to meet accreditation re quirements,. Revival services will be held special music. Mrs. Robert Johnson was in Montreal, N. C., Oct. 1-5 for the semi - annual conference of the guidance section of die Presbyterian Educational As sociation of the South. Mrs. Johnson. Acting Director of the Presbyterian Guidance center for the Synod of S. C., was re - elected secretly of the Association. Mr. and Mrs. P. M.
