HOGAN - i : * 1 , Correspondent-Representative Dial 697-6949 Mr. and Mrs. Earl Arthur had as guests last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. James Worth ington of Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Finlayson of Lexington. Mr. and Mrs. Rob Waldrop and family of Charleston, were here with Mr. and Mrs. Gene Peay recently to attend the funeral of Charlie Wal drop in Clinton. Mrs. Annie Waldreop and her mpther, Mrs. F. B. Bled soe, of Union, visited rela tives Dayton, Ohio, recently. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hogan and sons of Union, joined Mr. and Mrs. Gene Peay and fam ily to spend a few days in Dallas. Texas, on a recent vacation. D. C. Peay is a patient at the Greenville General hos pital. Last Sunday, Mrs. J. M. Bozard and Mr. and Mrs. Derrill Bozard, Martin and Margaret visited Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Griffis in Pendle ton recently. Mr, and Mrs. P. F. Swygert were Saturday visitors iii Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Ful ler and Barry enjoyed several days vacation the first part of July in' Masury, Ohio, with Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Chrinko and family and in Sharon, Pa., with Mrs. Mary Rokita and Mrs. Joseph Rokita, Jr., and daughter. Joining them there were Mrs. Fuller’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Bil odeau of Collinsville, Conn. The group also enjoyed a family dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Milan Rokita in Brook field, Ohio. Four generations were present. M-Sgt. and Mrs. Virlyn Davenport and family of Sumter, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. TT. Daven port, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Bowen of Burlington, N. C.,' enjoyed last week-end with Mrs. Boyce Bowen. Mrs. Hermie Woods of New berry, spent a few days the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Perry Lee Swygert. They ac companied her home on Sun day. Whitten Village Notes By MARGARET LOCKETT Mrs. Ruby Ingle has been on vacation; visiting relatives in Union, also going to Mooresville for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gossett, and Miss Eunice Lawson at tended the funeral of the for mer’s sister, Mrs. J. B. Ad ams at Trinity Methodist Church in Chesnee, S. C. last Tuesday. Dr. Ray Suber and family are on a Florida vacation this week. Mr. and Mrs. Dial Hender son spent the week-end in Greenville with Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Welling III and family. Mrs. Welling is their daugh ter. Miss Cathie Atkinson, of Columbia was the week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ru dolph Mathews. Mrs. Nellie Case, is at Bai ley Memorial Hospital for treatment. Her room is 221. She is the mother .of Mrs. Dor is Farmer, and formerly with Whitten Village. Mrs. Rennie Setzer and Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Setzer and family spent Sunday with Mrs. Setzer’s sister, Mrs. Joe McClary of St. Stephens. Miss Viola Chandler spent last week with her sister, Mrs. Frank Ramage, Old Milton Rd. Visiting them were Mr. and Mrs. Edward S. Chandler and daughter, Mrs. Bill Wisener from Orlando. Fla. He has served as Medical Director and Campus Doctor and is now retiring to Columbia. Dr. Josa was born in Hung ary at the time of Frances Joseph, next to.the last em peror of Austria, Hungary. As a young medical {stud ent he attended the Royal University of Budapest. He served four years in World War I and was sent to Italy. There he managed post graduate work in sur gery After returning to Hungary, he served as associate pro fessor of surgery. Dr. and Mrs. Josa fled Hun gary the last day before it fell, going to Austria. They left a lovely home and all possessions, except a little food and clothing and were six weeks on the road. For five years they remain ed in Austria, considering what country to settle in. He said, “America was our choice’’. A doctor in Buffalo, N. Y., whom he had met a few years before, while doing post graduate work in Budapest offered to sponsor him in America. He came to Buffalo in 1949 and after three years, attain ed an American license to practice in N. Y. state. A fellow countryman Dr. Kucsai, was at Whitten Vil lage. He and Dr. Whitten were instrumental in his set tling here. Dr. and Mrs. Josa say, “A very happy fifteen years”.
