C. Heaton. On Sunday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Wen dell Robertson visited Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ray Heaton. Jack Caughman, son of Mrs. Annie Mae Caughman of this city, has retired after 22 years of military service. He will make his home in Augusta, Georgia. Seventeen guests were pres ent and games were enjoyed by , everyone. Refreshments of ice cream, cake, and cook ies were served by her moth er. Susan received a lot of nice gifts. Ficklin observed their birth day May 13 and on May 14 Johnnie Walker has a birth day. Jeanette Heaton, Andy Hames, and Charles Graham observe their birthdays May 12. Mr. - and Mrs. Herbert Hughes will observe their wedding anniversary May 15. Mr. and Mrs. George Price will celebrate their wedding anniversary May 10. The treasurer, Mrs. A. J. Finley gave a report and notes of thanks were read by the secretary, Miss Z e 11 e Crisp. Mrs. Jo)in Turner and Mrs. J. H. Atchinson were program leaders for the afternoon. In the absence of Mrs. Atchison, Mrs. Turner gave the devo tional. Her topic “Forgetting God” was dealt with in a most thought provoking manner. She closed this period with Hawaiian costume, she gave a most interesting talk on the customs, dress, food and flowers, and along with her talk she showed beautiful col ored slides. The hostesses, assisted by Mrs. C. S. Pinson served a salad plate, sandwiches, chips and dessert, and hot punch. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT De Hart Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Shady Grove 4-H Club met Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’ clock. Following the meeting, the members enjoyed a pic nic. Lester L. Cooper, Jr., has accepted the pastorate of Fairview Baptist Church and he and Mrs. Cooper will move into the parsonage at an early date. Thursday night the Fair- view Missionary Society met at the home of Mrs. Jo? Mo- Quirt. 4 Rev. Cooper announced that prayer service will be each Wednesday night at Fairview Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Bled soe recently moved into the home previously occupied by Mrs. Maggie Marshall.
