On Tuesday school really got back to nor mal in a boom! I think the teachers were more prepared than the majority of us stu dents were. Too bad about that, huh, fellow CHS’ers. Exams begin next Friday at Clinton High. They will be ad ministered during a regular school day; there will be no exam schedule this year. Each exam will be divided into two parts an hour long. We poor students will have to study for every exam twice. Maybe that’s good because sometimes 1 know I should study about twice as much as l do. State Chamber of Commerce has predicted the Palmetto State’s 1967 econom- c outlook will he bright, but vith problem spots for some ndustries. The forecast, a culmination of replies to ’a questionnaire, ’hows 78 per cent expect next year’s economy to be as good as this year’s. The remaining 22 per cent say their particular indus tries may have some prob- lems i particularly tight mon ey and increased governmen tal regulation of business op erations. Construction and home building groups feel tho^short- age ot mortgage mervy will continue to plague their in dustry, at leaut through the first half of the next year. Another frequently mention ed problem was the difficulty m finding trained personnel to fill job openings, agriculture, food and bever- Fetroleum, drugs, printing, age industries predicted up swings for next year. Bank debits are running 12 per cent above 1965. new au to sales are 7.7 per cent ahead of last year, and build ing permits for South Caro lina's six largest cities are running 23.8 per cent ahead of 1965 ) despite a shortage of mortgage money. Employment in non-agricul. tural jobs was at a record October level of 730,300 jobs, increase of nearly 32,000 jobs over the current year. Man ufacturing accounted for 18.- 000 new jobs. Industrial expansions is ex pected to be close to the rec ord $600 million of 1965. and travel income may exceed $275 million. Tip. state's tax revenues for the first five months of the current fiscal year are run ning 13.7 per cent t— an in- ereas,. of $18 million — ahead <>f the same time period of last \ ear.
