Sirmans, of Medora, Ind., were guests last week of Mr. and Mrs. John Sirmans. - „ Weaver Returns From Duty in Viet Nam M/Sgt. Marion T. Weaver returned from Viet Nam last week and spent a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Weaver, other friends and relatives. He left on Tuesday for Offitt A.F.B. in Belview, Neb. Mr. and Mrs. Jones Wallen- zine visited Mrs. Ethel Werts in Spartanburg recently. Last Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Poag were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Strickland of Coranaco. A recent guest of Mr. and Mrs. David Gogan was the latters mother, Mrs. Leland Young of Washington, D. C. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Jenk ins and Sue spent last week end in Atlanta, Ga. with Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Jenkins. They attended the football game between the Colts and t alcons while there. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Boyce visited Mr. and Mrs. Guy Mis- enhimer and Mel in Chester last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sineath and Darrian were in Bam berg over the weekend visit ing relatives and visited Mrs. Sineath’s mother, Mrs. Ben Troupe, who is a patient at the hospital. Mrs. B. H. Johnson, Mrs. Donald Feezor and Alice Smith of Aiken were last Fri day guests of Mrs. L. D. Ed monds and Dora. Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Martin of Water loo were Sunday dinner guests. Also, Rev. and Mrs. Clee Blackwell and Mrs. Nannie Kennedy of Waterloo were Sunday overnight guests. Mr. and Mrs. K. C. Griffis of Pendleton were Friday sup per guests of Mrs. J. M. Bo- tard, and Mr. and Mrs. Der- rill Bozard. They were here especially for the Pendleton- Great Falls football game, which was played at Wilder Stadium. Their son, Ken, is a member of the team. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Elli ott, Donna and Tommy of Charleston and Jimmy Elliott of Columbia, spent last week- end,,with Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Elliott, Mr. and Mrs. A. S.' Holt, other friends and rela tives. ' . Mrs. S. D. Weathers, who was -recently visiting rela tives in Greenwood, is spend ing some time with Mr. and Mrs. Homer Stevens here in Joanna and Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Mauldin in Clinton. Visits Parents Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Moore and Dicky visited Dr. and Mrs. T. M. Moore last weekend in Rembert, on route to Charleston. Dicky re mained with his grandparents while Mr. and Mrs. Moore at tended Parents Day at The Citadel in Charleston, where Johnnie, Jr. is a student. They also attended the football game while there. | Attends Parents Day Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Willing ham and Mrs. Belle Willing ham spent last week in Charleston. They joined John ny Willingham at The Cita del for Parents Day. T h e y also enjoyed The Citadel-DNI football game. Visits Mother On Thursday Mrs. Irby Ginn, and Elaine and Mrs. Margaret Satterfield, Donnie and Mike, visited the form er’s mother, Mrs. BeuL Ivester, who is ill at the hom of Mrs. Liza Cape in West Greenville. Birthdays and Anniversaries On Thanksgiving Day, Ora Simpson and Martha Bodie observe their birthdays. On Fri., Nov. 25, Mattie Hunnicutt, Martin Bozard, Ettie Killian, T. R. Chalk, observe their birthdays. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Bedenbaugh will celebrate a wedding an niversary. Happy birthday on Novem ber 26 to Candy Lawson, Ov- alene Humphries, Mary Low- man, O. B. C. Franklin. Carolyn Brown, Gertrude Flow, and George Wright Simpson will celebrate birth days on Nov. 29 and Mr. and Mrs. Flynn Owens will ob serve a wedding anniversary. C. THOMAS' The hunting season gets into full swing Thanksgiving day with all seasons open on domestic 'game and also the duck season opening one-half hour before sunrise. Quail hunters in Zone Six get a little start on hunters in other sections with the season opening Monday, ex cept in Bamberg County, where the old Thanksgiving Day opening is still in effect. J'ho wild turkey season in those zones having an open season opens on either Wed nesday or Thursday and closes at various dates, one game zone having four dif ferent seasons. The squirrel and rabbit sea sons will also be open, al though in some of the eight zones they have been open for some time. The duck population seems 1,40 be the best in several years, although the big con centrations will not be down until cold weather comes late in the season. Early reports from upper Santee - Cooper indicates a record number of summer ducks, with a sprink ling of mallards and other big ducks. The goose season opened November 7.
