Street Wildcats Look to Successful Season Coach Ed Little greeted some forty-five football hope fuls Aug. 15, 1966 for pre-sea son practice at Bell Street High School. The Wildcats will open their 1966 season, Sept. 2, with Gall- man High at Newberry. The Wildcats should be im proved over last year with fourteen lettermen returning along with several new pros pects, it was stated. Coach Little reports that they will need improvement with the strong schedule they are playing this season. In cluded in the schedule are Blue Ridge of Seneca, State “AA” champions 1965; 'Gran- ard High of Gaffney, State “AAA” champions 1965; Beck High of Greenville, which came on strong after a slow start in completing their first season, and Sand ers High of Laurens, contend ers for “AAA” champions un til Granard knocked them off in the last game of the sea son. The Wildcats have the nuc leus to build around with let termen at most positions. Coach Little said quarterback and center are positions with least experience players. Returning lettermen are: ends: Roy Suber and Johnny Peake, tackles: James Gary and Rosevelt Wilson; guards: Larry Bobo, Jamos Goggins and Joseph McGhee: center: James Harley: quarterback: Willie Burnside; fullbacks: Morris Kinard and Robert Gary: halfbacks: Herbert Thompson and Arthur Martin;, and defensive backs: Walter Moore and Cleophus Moore. Harold Williams will assist as line coach again this sea son. Mrs. Thomasorf's Brother Passes C. Grover Thompson, bro ther of Mrs. C. T. Thomason of this city, died in an Anderson hospital Sunday, Aug. 14. af ter eight months of declining health and illness of one week. Funeral services were con ducted Aug. 16 at McDougald Funeral Home. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.
