r ■ r THE CUNTON CHRONICLE Winn-Dixxie Sales Now Running > Over $1 Billion Rate Jacksonvifte,, Fla. — With sales and profits at an all- time hish, Winn-Dixie Stores, Jne. announced that its vol ume is currently running in excess of $1 billion a year, markini: the first time in the South's retailing history that any Southern,firm has attain ed this figure. The-coifipany operates 696 food stores in the Southeast ern states. Reporting on the fiscal year ended June 25, President Bert Thomas said sales totaled $882,458,710 compared with $915,338,756 the previous fis cal year, an increase of $67,- 119,954 or 7.83 per cent. ’ Increases have been main tained in sales for 32 con secutive years, in earnings for 24 years and in dividends lor 23 years. < \ For the fiscal year ended June 25. unaudited consolidat ed net earnings were in ex cess of $24 million (approxi mately $1.87 per share) com pared with $22,781,012 ($1.80 per share) for the previous year, an estimated increase of 9 31 per cent.
