Two Deputies Will Continue At Joanna Columbia — Laurens County will provide necessary funds to assure that two deputy sheriffs will'tontinue to serve in the Jo anna area, according to State Son. W. C. (BUI) Dobbins of Laurens. Dobbins said the funds would be provided from the county contingency fund to pay one deputy’s full salary and half the salary of the second. The senator introduced legis lation Thursday transferring 310,000 from the general fund to the contingency fund. . Dob bins said $4,400 of this will be used to pay the deputies’ salar ies and the remainder will be used for general county pur poses. Dobbins said a change in the policy of Greenwood Mills, which recently bought Joanna Mills, made the financial move necessary. Joanna Mills paid the sal aries of two deputies, Dob bins said, but Greenwood Mills wil only pay half of one depu ty’s pay. The $4,000 will pay the de puties for the remainder of this fiscal, year after which they would be provided for in the county supply bill, Dobbins in dicated.
