Mr. and Mrs. Evans Chumley and children, Kathy and Rich ard, of Greer, visited the for mer's sister, Mrs. Edwin Evans on Sunday. Mrs. Dick James and children spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Jessie Mae Broome, and brother in Joanna. Mr. and Mrs. Royce Smith of near Laurens, visited Miss Feroline Seay on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie James and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby James and children visited Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hill in Abbeville Sunday. Mr. Hill is Mrs. Charlie James' brother. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Oakley and son, Mitchell, of Rock Hill, visited the former’s mother. Mrs. Sidney Oakley, last Satur day. Mrs. Fred Mathis spent sev eral days recently with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Maples, in Sharon . ' Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Williams were visitors in Greenville on Saturday. Mrs. W. N. Motte, Mrs. Marie Reeder, and Mrs. Denford Wy att visited their son and broth er in the Veterans hospital in Augusta, Ga., last Sunday. The W. N. Nabors had as visi tors Sunday Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Gilliland of Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Staggs of Belton, have been visiting their daughter, Mrs. Glenn Gaskins, Mr. Gaskins and children this Mr. and Mrs. Walter Starnes and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Starnes of Laurens, visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Starnes, Sunday. Mrs. J. Abbott Johnson has returned to her home in Brad ford, Pa., after spending sev eral weeks with her daughter and family. Rev. and Mrs. M. J. Sanders. She was called back home due to the serious illness of her granddaughter, Mrs. Lo- rayne Miller. Mises Martha White, Pam Brown and Pat Harvey, Lydia Baptist YWA’s, presided at the register. The roll call of the churches was by Miss Iris Hughes of Cal vary Church, in the absence of the secretary. Miss Marsha Tur ner, who was also in the hos pital. M. J. Sanders, pastor of the host church, led the opening prayer. Mrs. R. E. Whitmire, Lydia YWA director, and Mrs. Capers Wood of Poplar Springs Church, and WMU president of the asso ciation. were introduced. Dr. W. Parks McKittrick, chaplain at ^ Whitten Village, from the Home Mission Board of the SBC, was guest speaker. He showed slides and narrated them on “Panama, the Cross roads of the Nation.’’ A social hour was enjoyed in the social hall, with Mrs. H. W. Williams and Mrs. John Gall- man serving refreshments. The Valentine motif was car ried out in the decorations and refreshments of punch, cake squares and peanuts. MONTHLY CLASS MEET The Willing Workers class of the Lydia Baptist Church will have their monthly class meet ing Thursday (tonight) in the social hall of the church at 7:00. All members are urged to be present. Mrs. Raybon Wyatt and Mrs. H. W. Wiliams will be hostesses. WITH THE SICK Mrs. Clyde Trammell is ill at her home on Elm Street. Mrs Hugh Ballard has been ill several days at her home. Bill Gaskins was a patient at Bailey Memorial Hospital the first of the week for a tonsilec- tomy. Mrs. Lewis Oakley, daughter- inlaw of Mrs. Sidney Oakley, entered the York Hospital in Rock Hill on Monday. Mrs. Oak ley was to undergo surgery on Tuesday.
