K—The so-called “love at first sight’’ is more of ten than not Just infatuation which in time will wear away. Of course, this can DEVELOP into love, but It really does not deserve the name of love at first siigit. True love grows from the seeds of attraction, friend ship, and mutual interests and respect. • • • DEAR SALLY — 1 seem to have developed a daughter-in- law problem, and through no fault’of my own. Up to recently, I was always on excellent terms with my son’s wife, and was al-. ways ’ available ns a sitter ffer their children, ages 4 and 6. The children express their love and affection for me in no uncertain 1 erms, and now their mother has become unreasonably jealous of this and muy husband and I are no longer invited to their home nor do I receive any more re quests to take care of their chil dren. This cuts me deeply, and would appericate your advice. OSTRACIZED. DEAR OSTRACIZED — Most young mothers are only too hap- >y to have an always-available, juilt-in, and FREE baby-sitter like Grandma, and I’ll bet your daughter-inlaw will be missing the tender, loving care you've always given her children. I sug gest that you say or do nothing about this situation now, leave her strictly alone, and let her make the first move at resuming the former relationship. I’m sure she’ll be around again in time . . bringing her children with her.' DEAR SALLY—Maybe you’ll think I’m a poor sport, a bad oser, or just plain picayunish —but here goes anyway. I com pete in a bowling league one night a week, and the other four fellows on my team are all much better bowlers than I am. This wouldn’t be so bad, except for the fact that it costs me money. Our team has a jackpot each bowling night whereby each of us pitches in a dollar, with the five bucks going to the one who achieves the high total of pins for the night. All the other fell ows have won this jackpot al some time or other, but I have not even come close, and it looks as though I’ll spend the rest of the bowling season as just a con tributor or philanthropist, and at a buck a night this will add u£ to more than $30 over the sea son. Do you think this is fair, and don’t you think I have a good reason to decline further participation in this jackpot? LOW AVERAGE. DEAR LOW AVERAGE—As a member of the team, I think that if you were to refuse entering the jackpot you would risk being labeled “a poor sport, a bad los er, or just plain picayunish.” Why dont ’you work on your game to improve your scoring? Professional instruction is avail able at almost alf of today’s bowling establishments, and I’ll bet that with a few tips you, too, can haul in some of the loot. • • • DEAR SAJLL — Why should a high school girl be permitted to date only on Friday and Satur day nights? I’ve been going for some time with a wonderful boy, but he is complaining more and more over the fact that my pa rents won’t permit me to go out with him during the week. I’m very much afraid that this lim ited social schedule of mink might cause me to lose out with this boy, and that would break my heart. What do you think? G. E. M. DEAR G. E. M. — Your pa rents’ dating rules are sensible for any high school girl . . . or boy. After all, your prime pur pose in life right now is to ac quire a good education, and mid- dle-of-theweek dating can result in very tired students the follow ing day . . . and very tired-look ing grades, too. .If your boy friend has not the good sense nnd consideration to go along with your parents’ rules, then you’re much better off without him.
