Mr. and Mrs. Grady Chandler, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chandler of Columbia, spent the past weekend at Ocean Isle Beach. Joining them Were Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Riddle and daughter, Terry, of Burlington, N. C. and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Lindsay and family of Bennetts- ville. IN BAILEY MEMORIAL Louie Thornley continues ill and a patient at Bailey Memo rial Hospital. Miss Janet Johnson and Jane Ellen Fowler, both students at Winthrop College spent the week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fowler. Mrs. James R. Horton pnd son, Channing and John have re turned to their home in Chatham, N. J., following a visit here with Mr. and Mrs. Grady Chandler and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Chandler and Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Burns of Mountville visited recently in the mountains of North Carolina. ' Cadet Harold Culbertson left Monday for Charleston where he resumed his studies at The Cita del. Miss Mary Locke Simons left Monday for Montreat, N. C., where she entered Montreat-An- derson College as a member of the freshman class. She was ac companied to Montreat by her mother, Mrs. Locke Simons. Arthur Copeland is a patient at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Rebnoan and small sou, Robbie, of Myrtle Beach, spent the week-end with Mrs. Rebman’s grandmother, Mrs. John W. Finney. Mr. and Mrs. Rebman and son leave this week for New York where they will make their home. Mr! add Mrs. William Cotton, formerly of Columbia, are mak ing their home at 800 Prather Circle. Mr. Cotton holds a posi tion with the Rehabilitation De partment at Whitten Village. Mr. and Mrs. David Word ac companied' heir daughter, Sue, to Columbia last week where she entered Columbia College as a new student. Philip Hamilton has returned from a visit with his brother, Robert Hamilton, and family in Stamford, Conn. He and his roommate, Duncan Mills, of Richmond, Va., accompanied the Hamiltons home from a re cent visit here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Hamilton. Philip leaves this week to re sume his studies at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurin- burg, N. C. Mrs. Mae Motes is a patient at Bailey Memorial Hospital. - Marion Hiers left Sunday for Columbia where he entered the University of South Carolina as a student. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Carson of Gastonia, N. C., spent Satur day with the latter’s sister, Mrs. John Roseboro, and Mr. Roseboro. Mrs. G. W. Hollingsworth is a patient at Bailey Memorial Hospital. HOME FROM HOSPITAL Mrs. Alice Copeland has re turned from Greenville where she has been a patient at the general hospital. Misses Mary Ellen Cornwall and Jane Milam left Tuesday for Coker College where they will resume their studies. They are the daughters of Mayor and Mrs. J. J. Cornwall and Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Milam Jr. Miss Martha Horton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Horton, is convalescing at her home follow ing tonsilectomy last week at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Dr. and Mrs. Marion Lawson spent a week recently with the later’s mother, Mrs. R. W. Cook. While away they attended the Horse Show Celebration at Sher- byville, Tenn. Others attending the show from the city were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ramage and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pitts. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Thomas and the latter’s brother and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Vaughn of Anderson are spending this week in New York. While away they will tour the Worid’s Fair and other points of interest. Mr Thomas will also attend the gift show in New York for his stores here and in Joanna. Mr. and Mrs. Rembert Tru- luck spent Sunday afternoon in Sumter where Mr. Truluck was guest speaker at the C reswell Baptist Church for their Steward ship Program. HOME ON SERVICE LEAVE Rn Jerry Campbell of Fort Almador, Panama Canal Zone, is home on leave visiting his mother, Mrs. Hazel Campbell. Dr. and Mrs. Joe B. Godfrey and children, Brannon and Beth, of Forest City, N. C. were recent guests of Mrs. M. C. Poole. Miss Margaret Bethea of North Augusta spent the weekend with her sister, Mrs. W. W. Harris. Mrs. M. C. Poole spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Poole in Holly Hill. While there she attended the family re union. Miss Beverly Poole, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Poole, left Tuesday to enroll in the freshman class at the Univer sity of South Carolina. Fayrell Furr will leave this week to resume his studies at the University of South Caro lina. Mr. Furr will be a fresh man at the University Law School. Mr. and Mrs. Davis R. Hol land Jr. of Anderson spent the weekend with the letter’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Holland of this city. GRADUATES FROM * GREENVILLE GENERAL Miss Amelin West, daughter of Mrs. Pat West and the late Mr. West graduated Friday, September 3, from the Green ville Genergl Hospital School of Nursing. She has Joined the staff at Bailey Memorial Hos pital as nurse. Mrs. Ronald Cleaver of El- berton, Georgia, visited friends in the city several days this week while Mr. Cleaver attend ed a business meeting in Rock Hill. Miss Mickle Behrends, form erly of Trion, N. C. has moved to this city where she has Join ed the staff of nurses at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jasper McGin nis and children visited M-Sgt. and Mrs. A. K. Meredith in FayetteviUe, N. C. recently. Miss Ellen Lawson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Lawson, left Monday for Fur man University where she will be a senior. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Austin of Clemson visited the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Snel grove and Robin over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. F. Charles Graves, former residents of this city, who are now living in New York were recent guests of Miss Minnie and Edna Wood. Mrs. Edgar Blakely and Mrs. J. O. Grout had as a guest for the week-end their brother, W. L. Rearden of Savannah, Geor gia. Jackie Evans of Glenn Bur- nie, Md., spent a few days with her grandmother and aunt, Mrs. J. O. Crout, and Mrs. "Edgar Blakely. On Thursday Mrs. Blakely and Mrs. Crout accom panied her to Erskine College where she entered the freshman class. Residents new to the city are Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Running who moved here from Green ville, N. C., they are residing at 205 Elm St. Lamar King left this week for Louisville, Ky., to enter South ern Seminary. Judy King hut returned to Winthrop College where she is a senior, also Pri vate Ronald W. King is teHng training at Paris Island where he is stationed with the Marine Corp. They are the children of Mrs. L. L. King and the late Mr. King. Miss Kathy Bledsoe has ac cepted a position with Youngs Pharmacy. Miss Edna Wood with Doris, Elizabeth, and Billy Jones of Thornwell visited relatives in Independence, Missouri and toured parts of interest in Kan sas. Residents, new in uHrn are Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Budde who moved here from Nevada, Mis souri. They are living at 306 S. Adair St. Mr. Budde is employ ed with Michael Baker, Inc.,, Miss Dishie Delany left Tues day for Duke University, Dur ham, N. C., where she will be a rising sophomore. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Delany of Joanna. Miss Margaret Bell of Ashe ville, N. C., is visiting friends and relatives here for a few days. From here she will go to Kinston, N. C., to Visit Mr. and Mrs. John Jordan and then to Washington, D. C., and New York for a visit. Miss Linda Tiller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Tiller, enrolled last week as a mem ber of the freshman class at Furman University, Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Jacobs and family are moving this week into the Old English home built by the former's pa rents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam P. Jacobs. The home, located at the end of West Wal nut Street, is one of the old landmarks of the city. Miss Patsy Henderson and Mot Shealy, both students at Georgia Southern Colleges in Statesboro, will resume their studies next week after spend ing the summer vacation with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fowler and Mr. and Mrs. Wilmot Shealy. Bunky Blalock and Mike Johnson left Sunday for David son CoUege, Davidson, N. C. Bunky will be a mmeber of the senior class and Mike a fresh man. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Blalock and Mr. and Mrs. Olin Johnson.
