Franklin was here for the week-end from Fort Jack- Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Beckom, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. John Newborne of Greenwood, who were spending the week-end with them, attended the wedding of Mrs. Beckom’s sister, Mrs. Betty Durst Mitchell, and Rev. William Glenn Smith in Newber ry on Sunday evening at f 6 o’clock. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Boyce and Cherry of Aiken, visited Mr. > .and Mrs. Roy Boyce last Sunday * on their return trip from Gaines ville, Fla. AT HOME ON LEAVE Sp-4 Billy Bishop, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bishop, is spending a month’s leave at home. He was in Puerto Rico and will return there for another year. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Glenn of Columbia, joined Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Boyce and Elaine on Sun day for a trip to Winthrop Col lege in Rock Hill, where Elaine is enrolled as a senior. They were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Misenheimer in Ches ter. Robbie Lewis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Lewis, entered Winthrop College, Rock Hill, this week. Visiting Mrs. L. H. Rhinehart in Batesburg Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bishop, Billy and Jamie and Mrs. McNeal Trotter. v Woodrow Bowen and Danny Marshall of Chesnee, were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Bowen. Friday guests of Mrs. Floyd Pitts and Bonnie were Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Marcengill and Lar ry and Miss Carol Abernathy of Mount Holly, N. C. Mrs. Ethel Green and Donald McWaters of Atlanta, Ga., were Thursday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Murphy. On Sunday, the Murphys joined Mr. and Mrs. Louis Murphy and vis ited Mr. and Mrs. Maxie Mur phy and Mrs. Lottie Murphy in Union. HOME FROM HAWAII Ale and Mrs. Boyd D. Whit ney and children, Johnny, Clark and Karen returned recently from Hawaii. Mrs. Whitney and children have been with her pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Champ Johnson for the month’s leave. Airman Whitney and his mother, ■Mrs. Silas Whitney, of Spring- field, Mo., spent last week with the Joannians before returning to his new base in Omaha, Neb. Mrs. Whitney and children ac companied him. Mrs. L. B. Mills and son, Ran dall, who were at Fort Stewart, Ga., are on an extended visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Champ Johnson, while Sp-4 Mills is in Viet Nam. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Dolan of Atlanta, Ga., are spending a few days this week with Mr. and Mrs. Perry F. Swygert. Mrs. Ervin Stroud 'attended church line at Winthrop College in Rock Hill on Sunday with her daughters, Betty, a sophomore, and Andi, a freshman. Ann Addison, Diane Sexton and Becky Craven, all sopho mores, entered Winthrop Col lege, Rock Hill, last week. Jim Addison, who attended Lander College during vacation, is now at Clemson University. Bardwell Cannon of Miami, Fla., was a guest on Friday of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Cannon. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Wright and Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Elliott visited Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith in Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Higginboth am on Hartwell Lake Mrs. Essie Reeves of Easley, returned on Sunday after spend ing a week with Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Couch. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Morris and Randy spent the week-end with the latter’s aprents, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Tucker, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Tucker enjoyed the week-end at Myrtle Beach.
