Harvey and Dianne have been vacation ing in St. Augustine, Daytona and other points of interest in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Dj. E. Roberts with Mr. and Mrs. Don Rice of Clinton are in New York for the Kiwanis International Meeting. While there they will also attend the World’s Fair and other places of interest. Mike Campbell and Misses Tiny Worthy and Sharon Norris were at Myrtle Beach during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gaskins and family are spending the week’s vacation at Ocola, Fla. Mrs. Edna Steading and son Douglas of Duncan were week end guests of her brother, Paul Revis and Mrs. Revis. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Shumate Jr., Harvey and Denise Shumate and Francis Cooper are in Day tona Beach, Fla., for the week. Miss Sue Word and Miss Dian ne Ledford spent a few days re cently at Columbia College in Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. David Word, Sue’s parents accompani ed them there on a Monday. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Staggs of Belton were here with his daugh ter, Mrs. Glenn Gaskins, Mr. Gaskins and other relatives for a week while Mrs. Staggs wr.s recuperating from a hospital ill ness. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Williams spent several days ifb Myrtle Beach, leaving for th# beach Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Boozer and family of Inman were recent guests of their son, Martin Booz er and daughter, Mrs. Lester Eustace and their families. The Eustace daughters returned home with their grandparents for a visit. C. spent the week-end with his parents and his wife and son. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Campbell and Mike are vacationing at Day tona Beach, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Parrish Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Perry Parrish and Tomi visited Mr. and Mrs. Parrish Jr. in Aiken on Friday. The Parrish Seniors remained for a visit with their son and daughter-in-law and accompani ed them to Daytona, Fla. for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Davis and L. F., their daughters, Mrs. Allison West and Mr. West and another daughter, Mr. Yancy Eubanks and Mr. Eubanks of Buffalo left Friday evening to spend a weeks vacation with their son and brother Seaman Billy Davis and Mrs. Davis in Norfolk, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Mason Coleman and family left on Saturday for a few days vacation stay at Daytona Beach, Fla. Robert Fuller H.M. 2, USN and Fuller and children of Pensa cola, Fla. spent the week-end with the formers parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Fuller. Mrs. Ful ler and children remained here for a visit. Lydia Baptist Circles to Meet The Omathine Dabbs Circle will meet Tuesday July 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Ithiel Harvey. The Kathleen Walker Circle will meet with Mrs. Mark Con ner Wednesday, July 14 at 1 p.m. No July Club Meeting The Lydia Woman’s Club will not meet in July and the August meeting will be a cook-out at the Greenwood State Park. Church Family Night On July 21 Wednesday evening, July 21 the Lydia Baptist Church will have family night at 6 p.m. with everyone bringing a picnic basket supper and beverages for the family. Plates, cups, napkins tea, will be furnished. After supper there will be a short Sunday School and Train ing Union meeting before Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. With The Sick John Starnes and J. D. Hairs ton are ill at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mike South was to have a tonsilectomy at Bailey Memorial Hospital the first of the week. QUINTON Al/c and Mrs. Cecil Wayne Quinton announce the birth of a daughter, Pamela Renee on June 23 at the Lakenbeath Air force Base in England. Mrs. Quinton is the former Carroll Emery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Emery and Airman Quinton is the son of Mrs. L. H. Quinton and the late Telephone Bills To Be Reduced Your telephone bill will be low er starting January 1, 1366. Tele phone bills in the Clinton-Joanna area will be lower because the excise tax revision law signed by President Johnson reduces the federal excise tax on local and long distance telephone ser vice. “This is good news for tele phone customers,” said D. H. Martin, Southern Bell’s manager here, “because the entire sav ings from the reduction will go to telephone customers.” The first — and biggest — por tion of the excise tax reduction goes into effect next year. In stead of th present 10 per cent, the rate will be 3 per cent begin ning January 1. An additional 1 per cent will be removed each January thereafter until the tax is eliminated in 1963. Southern Bell customers in South Carolina pay an average of $16.84 for federal excise taxes per year. Mr. Quinton. Both families are Clinton residents. O’Shields, Cttn- ton, completed advanced train ing as a cannoneer at the Army Artillery and Missile Center, Fort Sill, Okla., June 10. O’Shield was trained In the preparation, loading and firing of field artillery guns and howit zers. He entered the Army last Jan uary and completed basic train ing at Fort Jackson, Columbia.
