Standings Women's Bowlers Bowlers as of Dec. 5. Palmetto Leagae Dionne Ledford Named # DAR Citizen' At Clinton High Dianne Ledford was recently chosen D. A. R. Good Citizen by the senior class at Clinton High School. Dependability, service, leader ship, and patriotism are stressed in the Good Citizen contest, which is sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Dianne will reperesent Clinton High School in the district D. A. R. contest. From the district contest one girl will be invited to be a guest of the State D. A. R. Con vention at which time the State winner will be announced. Through the various activities in which she has participated, Dianne has displayed these qualities. This year Dianne holds the office of secretary in both the National Honor Society and the Student Council. She is also vice- president of her homeroom, fea ture editor of the Sentinel, and one of the top magazine sales men of the Senior Class. This summer Dianne was a delegate to Girls’ State from C. H. S. At homecoming she was named an attendant to Miss C. H. S. In previous years Dianne has been active in the Future Home makers of America, Student Council, the J. C. L., and the Horizon Club. During her first three years at C. H. S. she was also a majorette with the band. Dianne is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Ledford. Mn. Frank J. Mock Waterloo — Mrs. Mary Bell Oswald Mack, 75, of Waterloo died at her home at • a. m. Mon day after two months of declin ing health. . A native of Lexington County, daughter of the late James and Solly Warren Oswald, she was a member of Waterloo Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Frank J. Mack; two sons, Sam and R. H. Mack of Waterloo; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Able of Due West, Mrs. C. B. Ballard and Mrs. Johnny Cox of Columbia; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Waterloo Methodist Church by Rev. Floyd Chandler. Burial was in Waterloo Cemetery. Hompton Are. PTA Christmas Program “Christmas Around the World” will be presented Tuesday eve ning, December IS, at 8 o’clock at the December meeting of the Hampton Avenue Parent-Teach er Association. The chorus will be composed of over 140 voices of fifth and sixth graders under the direction of Mrs. Grace Connor. y Annual Christmas Muslt Program In Spartanburg Sunday The fourteenth annual ’’Fes tival of Christmas Music” will be presented in two concerts next Sunday, December 13, at 3:00 p. m. and 8:00 p. m. in Spartanburg’s Memorial Audi torium. Presenting the concerts will be Converse College Chorale, Wofford College Glee Club, Spartanburg High School Cho rus, and the Spartanburg Sym phony Orchestra, Henry Janiec, conductor. Three guest soloists will ap pear with the choral groups. Joan Foster will be appearing for the first time. Sally and David Peninger, who have pre viously appeared on the pro gram, will be other guest so loists. Admission is free and no collection is taken. The entire cost ot the concerts is shared by a group of local sponsors, again this year are such popu- 1 a r Christmas favorites as “Adestes Fidelis,” ”0 Little Town of Bethlehem/’ “O Holy Night,” ’The Lord’s Prayer,” ’’Hallelujah Chorus” and many others. As In past years, the concerts are again expected to attract two capacity audiences of more than 7,000. High School Choral Groups Perform In Seasonal Concerts The Clinton Senior and Junior High School groups, under the di rection of Mrs. Hazel GUfUUn, are appearing in a number of seasonal concerts at this time. On Friday, December 4, at 3 p. m. the Senior High group was heard during Christmas Open House observance of the Clinton Garden Clubs held at the home of President and Mrs. Marc C. Weersing of Presbyterian Col lege. On last evening, December 9, the entire Junior High School Choral Group, made up of 70 voices, presented a Christmas Cantata in the School’s audi torium The music was taken from the “Childe Jesus” by Jo seph W. Clokey and Hasri Jean Kirk, and the program began at 8 o’clock. On Sunday, December 13, the 68 voices from the Senior High School’s Music Appreciation Club will give a sacred concert, en titled ’’Love Transcending,” by John Peterson, at Joanna’s First Baptist Church. The presenta tion will start at 7:30 o’clock in the evening.
