A native of Laurens County, ■he was a daughter of the late John D. and Ellen Simmons Williams. She waa a retired registered nurse and had work ed at the University Hospital in Augusta, Ga., and was a nurse with the Augusta Public Hoad Department until tour yeor* ago. She waa a Presbyterian.
