Mrs. Holcomb Gives Program For SS Class The Young Married Women’s Sunday school class of Davidson Street Baptist Church met Tues day evening at the home of Mrs. Joel Cox. Mrs. Gary Holcombe was guest speaker and presented a pro gram on “Christmas Ideas and Arrangements.’’ Leadership Topic Of B&PW Club The theme for the meeting of the Business and Profession al Women’s Club on Tuesday evening, November 10, was “Opportunities for Leadership in Public Affairs for Women.” The meeting was held at the Mary Musgrove Hotel, with the President, Mrs. P. M. Pitts, presiding. Mrs. Robert Johnson gave the invocation, and Mrs. Grace Connor, World Affairs chairman, presented the pro gram, featuring a film strip en titled “Resources for Leader ship,” in which several out standing women in public af fairs stressed the opportunities that are open to women in this field. Mrs. Dessie Jean Roberts read the club collect as a con clusion to the program. At the business meeting which followed, reports from the va rious committees were heard, and plans for Christmas-time projects and other activities were made. Zone One Meeting At Hut Saturday Zone One of the American Le gion Auxiliary, Department met in Aiken at the American Legion Hut on Saturday, with Unit No. 26 as hostess. Following lunch, workshops for chairmen of Child Welfare, Membership, Scholarship and Education, and Rehabilitation Committees were held. Informa tion on the plans for the S. C. Department headquarters build ing to be built in Columbia was given. Each member of the Au xiliary was asked to contribute one dollar to the furnishing fund. A Fall Rally will be held in Co lumbia on Friday, November 13. Attending the meeting from Clinton were: Mrs. P. M. Pitts, Mrs. L. O. Thomley and Miss Essie Davidson. November Meeting Of UDC Members The Stephen D. Lee Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy met at the home of Mrs. A. A. Ramage, Jr., for the November session. Miss Louise Kern presided in the ab sence of the president, Mrs. W. W. Harris. Mrs. P. M. Pitts had charge of the program, giving a report of the President General’s mes sage in the United Daughters magazine. Mrs. Irene Pitts as sisted in giving several mes sages from the magazine. During the business session, Mrs. A. A. Ramage, Jr., was elected acting president. During the social hour the hostesses, Mrs. Ramage, Mrs. Asa Davis. Miss Ruth Bailey and Mrs. B. F. The new slate of 1965 officers was announced follow ing three days of active cam paigning and balloting by more than 300 members of the Asso ciation. Miss West, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. B. West, of this city, is a senior student nurse at Green ville General Hospital School of Nursing. She is also co-editor of the school newspaper, “The Tattler”. A 1962 graduate of Clinton High School, she left Sunday for Oteen, N. C., where she will continue her training for the next six weeks as part of the training program at Greenville General.
