Horn of Co lonial Beach, Va., spent the past week with her sister, Mrs. Willie O’Dell. Recent dinner guests of Mrs. O’Dell were Mr. and Mrs. Olin Davenport of Newberry. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Holmes of Kannapolis, N. C., spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Phil lip Holmes, cookie and Tommy. Mr. and M19. James O. Madden of Green villi, were overnight guests on Tuesday of her mother, Mrs. S. D. Weathers, and were Wednesday overnight guests of Mrs. Wade Hooper. Another daughter of Mrs. Weathers, Mrs. B. F. Lewis of Greenwood, spent Wednesday with her. Mrs. Guy Misenhimer and Mel of Rock Hill, Barbara and Elaine Boyce, student at Winthrop Col lege, were week-end guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. El bert Boyce. On Saturday, Mrs. Boyce and Babrara were visitors in Greenville. Mr. and MrsRFranklin Gilliam and Frankie spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. William Doug las. Gerry Shealy spent Saturday in Durham, N. C., with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shealy. Accompany ing him home were his wife and children who had been visiting there the past two weeks. S. A. Mode visited his mother in Kings Mountain, N. C., over the week-end. She is a patient in a hospital Mb. Mr. and Mff. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Whitlock of Scituate, Mass., is spending two weeks with his mother, Mrs. Mary Johnson, and Mr. Johnson. Mr. Whitlock is in the navy is stationed at South Weymouth Mass. Mrs. E. L. Thomas of Bath, visited friends and relatives iti Joanna and Clinton on Sunday. Mrs. J. H. Campbell of Gaff ney, was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Murphy on Mon day ^On Thursday, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cooper of Lanford, were their guests. Mrs. Joe Abrams enjoyed the week-end in Greenville with her daughter. Miss Doris Abrams. Bozard visited Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Griffis and family in Pendleton Sunday. WITH THE SICK Mrs. William Douglas, who was a patient for two weeks at Self Memorial Hospital, Greenwood returned home last Saturday. Darran Sineath has been ill with measles. CHURCH NEWS Epworth Methodist Special prayer services will be held at the church on March 18 and Thursday, March 19 at 7:30 p. m. The first one will be con ducted by W. C. Dobbins, and the one on Thursday by Mrs. Lanette Smaltz. This will be in prepara tion for the revival that will be gin on the 22nd. Presbyterian The Women of the Church will attend the district conference on Sunday, March 15, at the Ave- Wgh Presbyterian Church in Newberry. Registration will be gin at 2:00 p. m. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENTS NORRIS Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Norris an nounce the birth of a son, Wesley Lamar, on March 2nd at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Norris is the former Miss Vivian Whel- chel. DeBERRY ADRl and Mrs. Vernon De Berry of Long Beach Calif., an nounce the birth of a son, Robert Kenneth on March 2nd at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mrs. DeBer ry is the former Misk Marlene Thomas. ' BIRTHDAY PARTY Ann Thomas, who observed a birthday on March 3rd, was hon ored with a party at the club house on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Ruby Lee Thomas assisted by Mrs. Nell Adams, Mrs. lola Mason and Mrs. Louise Miller, entertained the 19 guests. They enjoyed games, and each one re ceived a favor. Before the party plate was served, Ann opened her gifts. Out of town guests included Hope and Charlotte Adams of Clinton, and Furman and Susan Miller of Newberry. MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER Mrs. Elvin, Floyd of Columbia, was honored with a miscellane ous shower at the club house on Saturday evening. She received many gifts. Appropriate games were enjoyed. A chicken salad plate, dessert and punch were served by the hostesses, Mrs. D. L. Bundrick of Greenville, Mrs. Louise Bundrick of Clinton, Mrs. W. T. Werts and Mrs. Larry Dan- nielson of Newberry, and Mrs. Gene Floyd of Clinton. The honoree is the former Miss Genevieve Duff of St, Johns, Newfoundland. PINK AND BLUE SHOWER Mrs. Glenda Summers was hon ored with a lovely shower on Saturday evening at the club house. She recieved many gifts from the number of guests pres ent.
