Davenport, Sr., had as guests Mrs. Mable Davenport, Mrs. Luther Long and Miss Essie Davenport. Carson Nabors/ and Louie Nabors, along With John Henry Nabors and Luther Nabors of Laurens, were in Washington, D. C., over the week-end to at tend the funeral services of Mrs. Ella Adair on Saturday. ITEMS OF INTREST . The Woman’s Society of , Christian Service of the Ep- worth Methodist Church held the January meeting with Mrs. W. O. Stewart at her home on the Columbia highway Janu ary 6. The president, Mrs. Ru dolph Prater, presided over a brief business session, after which the program chairman, Mrs. Cecil O’Dell, presented a New Year’s meditation. At the close of her remarks, Mrs. O’Dell read the latter part of the 31st Psalm, praise of a ’good wife and mother ,as a tribute to Mrs. Stewart’s moth, er, Mrs. J. W. Davis, in whose honor the meeting was helc}. Mrs. Davis, “Granny,” as she is affectionately known, ob served her 90th birthday Janu ary 8. In tribute it was brought out the number of blessings that Granny had given others, and the number of children .made better through her asso ciation * M^s. Davis, being the oldest member of the WSCS and Ep- worth Methodist ‘Church, was surprised with the birthday ‘party. During the fellowship Ihour, Granny was led into the ,dining room where a square, two-tiered cake centered the [table, laden wiUi gifts. The cake was a surprise gift of Mrs. G. iP. Bowers, a former member jof the WSCS and Epworth. A salad course, sandwiches, cake with iced drinks, and coffee was served. • -■ Spaghetti Supper v Qn Saturday evening Loretta ( Lindsay entertained several friends with a spaghetti supper at her home on Moorhead .Drive. Guests included Rhonda 'Rfkard, Rosemary Abrams. (Carol Sanders, Mike Johnson, 'and Randy Rushton. Out of jtown gusts included Kay Hat- Son and Beverly Poole of Clin ton.
