After Dan opened the gifts the children were entertained with games. Seven little friends enjoyed the afternoon of TV and games. Mrs. Shirley Nelson is improv ing at Bailey Memorial Hospital where she has been, a patient for several days. Mrs. W. O. Harris was in Greenville Friday for a medical check-up after recent surgery. Mrs.. Billy Ray Madden was ill a few days last week. Mrs. Eliazbeth Price was con fined to her home last week on acount of illness. View* >" Of Our Readers Editor, The Chronicle: ' Due to the wonderful coopera tion of the sportsmen, we have just completed a very successful deer hunting program in the South Carolina Piedmont. Dur ing the first week of the hunts, the weather was critically dry, but due to th* alertnes of the hunters, only one small fire was reported in the hunting area. During the fourteen days of hunting, three hundred and forty- one bucks were harvested where ten years ago deer were virtually unknown. This success was pos sible mainly because the land owners and you sportsmen have cooperated so well in controlling wild running dogs, which do a great deal of damage to both deer and turkey, and in helping us control illegtgl hunting by so- called “sportsmen” T who just aren’t man enough ^to ^et their game legally. / As a part of our program of supplying hunting for everyone who buys a hunting license, we are now opening our manage ment areas for small game hunt ing. We are hoping that the co operation of all you sportsmen will permit us to continue the small game hunts, and give us a chance to offer you men a fin* turkey gobbler hunt in April.
